BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES April 11, 2017 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress, Ron Shriner and Dawn Ross. Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the April 4, 2017 regular meeting. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT Structure Demolition at 1105 & 1109 N. 18th Street President Henriott stated that this will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Permission to Advertise-2017 CDBG Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise the 2017 CDBG Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project. The bid opening is scheduled for May 2, 2017. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Legal Counsel Resolution 03-2017 A Resolution Accepting the Assignment for Certain Tax Sale Certificates from Tippecanoe County Mrs. Chosnek presented to the Board and recommended approval of Resolution 03-2017 A Resolution Accepting the Assignment for Certain Tax Sale Certificate from Tippecanoe County. Mrs. Chosnek stated that these are two (2) properties located at 424 Central and 1412 Morton that the Lafayette Hearing Authority ordered for demolition within the last couple of years. The City of Lafayette certifies the cost of demolition to Tippecanoe County and placed on the tax duplicate. The properties did not sell at the most recent tax sale and so the County is able to assign those certificates to the City of Lafayette. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety April 11, 2017 Page 2 Lafayette Housing Authority Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Faith Community Development Corp 2015-2016 Project#2-Whitcomb Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Faith Community Development Corp 2015-2016 Project #2- 1908 Whitcomb. The contract is in the amount of $63,918.00. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $2,980,358.64. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Mosey Down Main Street President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Mosey Down Main Street to be held once a month from May-September from 3:00pm-1:00am in downtown Lafayette. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Adult Tricycle Relay Race President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Adult Tricycle Relay Race to be held on April 29, 2017 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Riehle Plaza. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Beers Across the Wabash President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Beers Across the Wabash to be held on August 26, 2017 from 8:00am-8:00pm on the John T. Myers Bridge. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Faith Church/Hartford Hub Neighborhood Vacation Bible School President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Faith Church/Hartford Hub Neighborhood Vacation Bible School to be held June 5-9, 2017 from 6:00pm- 9:00pm on Hartford Street. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Hartford Hub Block Party President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Hartford Hub Block Party to be held May 27, 2017 from 4:00pm-9:00pm on Hartford Street. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety April 11, 2017 Page 3 Special Event Request-Harford Hub Block Party with Purdue EPICS President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Hartford Hub Block Party with Purdue EPICS to be held April 22, 2017 from 4:00pm-9:00pm on Hartford Street. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-All City Mass on the Bridge President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for All City Mass on the Bridge to be held May 7, 2017 from 3:00pm-6:30pm on the John T. Myers Bridge. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Assumption Pilgrimage President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Assumption Pilgrimage to be held August 12, 2017 from 4:30pm-6:30pm at Riehle Plaza and on the John T. Myers Bridge then they will walk to St. Boniface. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
