BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES April 4, 2017 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress, Ron Shriner and Dawn Ross. Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the March 28, 2017 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT Structure Demolition at 1105 & 1109 N. 18th Street President Henriott stated that this will remain under advisement. OLD BUSINESS Special Event Request-Jeff HS Grand March/After Prom Mr. Childress moved to remove this item from the Table. Mrs. Ross seconded. Removed. Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of the revised Special Event request for the Jeff High School Grand March to be held on April 22, 2017 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The revision includes closing Main Street between N. 6th & 7th Street (7:00pm-8:30pm) and closing N. 6th Street between Main Street and the alley behind the Lafayette Theater (6:30pm-8:30pm). Police security has been hired and will help assist with arriving limos and closure signs/barricades. Mrs. Murray stated that the Good Neighbor Letters have been sent out. A map of the closure was submitted and is on file. Greg Emig, Lafayette Brewing Company, spoke in opposition of the closure due to the effect it will have on his business. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Recommendation for Award-City Hall Chiller Installation Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for Award for the City Hall Chiller Installation with D.A. Dodd LLC in the amount of $81,600.00. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety April 4, 2017 Page 2 Contract-City Hall Chiller Installation Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the City Hall Chiller Installation with D.A. Dodd in the amount of $81,600.00. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Notice to Proceed-City Hall Chiller Installation Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the City Hall Chiller Installation Project that starts today. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Lafayette Housing Authority Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and New Chauncey Housing, Inc. 2015 Project #2- Lincoln Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and New Chauncey Housing, Inc Project #2 Lincoln in the amount of $70,418.00. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $227,125.78. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-National Day of Prayer President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for National Day of Prayer to be held on May 4, 2017 from 11:00am-1:30pm at Riehle Plaza. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Little Star Superhero Scholarship Event President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Little Star Superhero Scholarship Event to be held on June 24, 2017 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Riehle Plaza. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mayor Roswarski stated that Mike Koning passed away last week. Mike was a tremendous community volunteer with the graffiti abatement program. The Mayor asked that you keep his family in your thoughts.
