MINUTES
May 8, 2018
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Dawn Ross and Ron
Shriner. Absent: Norm Childress
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the May 1, 2018 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross
seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Recommendation for Award-2018 Pavement Markings
Jeromy Grenard, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a
Recommendation for Award for the 2018 Pavement Markings Project with Roadsafe Traffic Systems in
the amount of $75,488.88. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
Contract-2018 Pavement Markings
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the 2018 Pavement
Markings Project with Roadsafe Traffic Systems in the amount of $75,488.88. Mr. Shriner moved for
approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
Notice to Proceed-2018 Pavement Markings
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the 2018
Pavement Markings Project. Official work will begin on May 8, 2018 with a date of completion of July
27, 2018. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Purchasing
Declaration of Surplus Property-Fire Department
Dave Payne, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of
Surplus Property for the Fire Department. The surplus property includes:
FD2 1995 Navistar/KME Fire engine VIN # 1HTSDADRXSH667841 and FD11 2000
International/Marion Squad Truck VIN# 1HTSDADN01H362179

Mr. Payne stated that the vehicles will be sold when the replacement vehicles are put in service. Mrs.
Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Tim Clary, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $514,012.35.
President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for
approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-Bistro 501 Clam Bake
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of Special Event Request for the
Bistro 501 Clam Bake to be held on June 11, 2018 from 5:30pm-9:30pm on 5th Street between Main
Street and Columbia Street. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Special Event Request-Memorial Day Parade
Tim Hilton, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Special Event
Request for the Memorial Day Parade to be held on May 28, 2018 from 12noon-1:00pm near Columbian
Park and surrounding neighborhood. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
Special Event Request-World Vision Global 6K
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the
World Vision Global 6K to be held on May 19, 2018 from 9:00am-9:45am in the Valley Forge
neighborhood and surrounding streets. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded.
PassedSpecial Event Request-Club NewTone 5K
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the
Club NewTone 5K to be held on May 19, 2018 from 9:00am-11:00am on Union Street and Munger Park.
Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
