MINUTES
September 25, 2018
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 9:00
a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm
Childress, Amy Moulton and Ron Shriner.
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the September 18, 2018 regular meeting. Mr.
Childress seconded. Passed.
BID OPENING
2018 CDBG Curb, Sidewalk, Drive Approach and Ramp Replacement Project
This being the time set to open bids for the 2018 CDBG Curb, Sidewalk, Drive Approach and Ramp
Replacement Project, the following bids were received and opened:
Dixon Construction
Lafayette, Indiana
Base Bid: $162,074.50
Milestone Contractors
Lafayette, Indiana
Base Bid: $309,886.00
Mr. Childress moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mrs. Moulton seconded.
Passed.
BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT
Tropicanoe Cove Aquatic Center Expansion
President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Acceptance for Maintenance-Overlook Pointe Apartments

Bob Foley, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Acceptance for
Maintenance for Overlook Pointe Apartments. Herman and Kittle Properties, Inc provided a 3-year
maintenance bond in the amount of $27,422.80. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded.
Passed.
Purchasing
Declaration of Worthless Property-Controller’s Office
Dave Payne, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of
Worthless Property for the Controller’s Office that includes a Sharp MX5001N Multi-Function Printer
Serial #85077780. This is no longer functioning and will be recycled. Mr. Childress moved for approval.
Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $1,100,177.95. President
Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for
approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-Indiana State Open Class Marching Band Contest
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for
Indiana State Marching Band Contest to be held on October 13, 2018 from 8:00am-10:00pm, on the
streets surrounding Jefferson High School. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded.
Passed.
Special Event Request-Digby Place Car Show
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for
Digby Place Car Show to be held on October 14, 2018 from 10:00am-4:00pm, on the streets surrounding
Digby Place. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
