BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES May 28, 2019 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton, Norm Childress and Ron Shriner. Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the May 21, 2019 regular meeting. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT Loeb Baseball Stadium President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Certificate of Compltion-2018 CDBG Curb, Sidewalk, Drive Approach and Ramp Replacement Project Jeromy Grenard, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Completion for the 2018 CDBG Curb, Sidewalk, Drive Approach and Ramp Replacement Project with Dixon Construction. The project was located on Hart, Perrine and 17th Street. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Lafayette Renew Permission to Advertise-Williams Street Sewer Project Brad Talley, Renew Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise for the Williams Street Sewer Project. The publications are set to be advertised on May 31 and June 7, 2019 with a bid opening date of June 25, 2019. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety May 28, 2019 Page 2 Lafayette Housing Authority Release of Mortgage-479 Robinson, West Lafayette Michelle Reynolds, Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Mortgage for 479 Robinson, West Lafayette. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Economic Development 2019 Permanent Supportive Housing Rental Assistance Contract Dennis Carson, Economic Development Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permanent Supportive Housing Rental Assistance Contract with the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. Mr. Carson stated that the contract will provide continuance of rental assistance for 28 persons who are certified as chronically homeless with a co-existing disability, such as mental illness, substance abuse and/or HIV/AIDS. The contract sets aside $231,840.00 in rental assistance for the next year with additional administrative funding of $13,559.00. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Tim Clary, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $3,407,119.45. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. MISCELLANOUS Special Event Request-Hunger Hike President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Hunger Hike to be held on September 22, 2019 from 12:00pm-3:30pm at Riehle Plaza and John T. Meyers Bridge. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Zoo Run Run Neil Dale, Columbian Park Zoo Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Zoo Run Run to be held on July 20, 2019 from 7:30am-9:30am in Columbian Park and surrounding neighborhood. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-St. Boniface Assumption Pilgrimage Gathering President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the St. Boniface Assumption Pilgrimage Gathering to be held on August 10, 2019 from 5:30pm-6:45pm at Riehle Plaza and the John T. Meyers Bridge. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety May 28, 2019 Page 3 ANNOUNCEMENTS Mayor Roswarski stated that Lafayette Renew saved enough money on the CSO tank that they were able to fund the Williams Street Sewer Project ahead of schedule. The Mayor thanked Mr. Talley and his team on a job well done.
