MINUTES
October 29, 2019
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Amy Moulton, Norm Childress and Ron
Shriner. Absent: Cindy Murray
Ed Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the October 22, 2019 regular meeting. Mrs. Moulton
seconded. Passed.
BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT
Structure Demolition-2107 Charles Street
President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement.
NEW BUSINESS
Economic Development
Change Order #1-Sidewalk and Paver Repair Project
John Collier, Economic Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Change Order #1 for
the Sidewalk and Paver Repair Project with Curbmasters, Inc. The change order is in the amount of $6,975.00
which brings the revised contract amount to $62,705.25 and includes the adjustment of pavers that have settled
along the back of the curb at the crosswalk at 11th and Columbia Street as well as along 11th Street. Mr. Shriner
moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
Lafayette Housing Authority
Agreement with Lafayette Housing Authority and Wabash Center for 250 South
Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement with
Lafayette Housing Authority and Wabash Center for 53 West 250 South. The agreement is in the amount of
$187,500.00 and issues the 2019 HOME funding award to construct a new home on a vacant lot to house four
Wabash Center clients. The home will be ADA complaint and energy efficient. The project will provide an
affordable housing option with handicap amenities for the next twenty years. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval.
Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.

CLAIMS
Tim Clary, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $4,436,588.16. President Henriott
asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton
seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Lafayette Fire Department-MDA Check Presentation
Trent Richter, President of the Lafayette Professional Firefighters Local 472, presented to the Board a check in
the amount of $45,805.13 for the money raised for MDA. Mr. Richter thanked the Board for allowing them
permission to use the city streets for this worthy cause. Mr. Richter stated that the firefighters with City of
Lafayette raised the most money in the State of Indiana for 2019, beating out Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. Mr.
Righter stated that all the funds raised for MDA stay in the local community. Paige Shiver, MDA, thanked the
Board for what they do to help the firefighters with putting on this fundraiser. Ms. Shiver gave the Board a little
background information about herself.
