BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES June 30, 2020 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton, Ron Shriner and Norm Childress Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the June 23, 2020 regular meeting. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT Utility Emergency Response Program for 2020-2021 President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. 18th and Central Drainage Improvement Project President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Police Department Lafayette Police K-9 Unit-Canine Ownership Transfer Agreement Brad Bishop, Deputy Police Chief, presented to the Board and recommended approval of the Lafayette Police K-9 Unit Canine Ownership Transfer Agreement between the Lafayette Police Department and Sergeant Joshua Saxton. Sgt. Saxton will have complete responsibility of K-9 Boyka’s care, food, veterinary attention, lodging, maintenance and supervision. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Purchasing Vehicle Transfer Trade-In Authorization-Lafayette Police Tim Clary, Controller, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Vehicle Transfer Trade-In Authorization for the Lafayette Police Department that includes a 2016 Dodge Charger VIN#2C3CDXAG9GH130021 City #16-8. The vehicle is being authorized for transfer to the insurance company as part of the settlement in a total loss crash. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety June 30, 2020 Page 2 Equipment Trade-In Authorization-Lafayette Renew Mr. Clary presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Equipment Trade-In Authorization for Lafayette Renew that includes a 1999 Case 580 Super L/2 Backhoe Serial#JJG271757 City #370. The equipment will be traded in on an upcoming Backhoe purchase. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Tim Clary, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $11,568,819.17. Mr. Childress had a question on Page 3 regarding the Duke/Main Street Aquatic Center in the amount of $7,571.74. Mr. Clary stated that is the Duke Energy bill for the Center and a few surrounding buildings. Mr. Childress has a question on Page 4 regarding the Duke Energy bill for Electric Facilities 2 in the amount of $11,594.45. Mr. Clary stated that is the Duke Energy bill for City Hall and possibly more buildings. Mr. Clary stated that he would check and report back to Mr. Childress next week. Mr. Childress had a question on Page 10 regarding the Ice Miller LLC bill for General Employment Matters in the amount of $5,630.00. Mr. Clary stated that Human Resources outsources their services to specific employment and contract needs for the City. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
