BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES January 19, 2021 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met virtually in a regular session on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton, Norm Childress and Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Shriner moved for approval of the minutes from the January 12, 2021 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed 5-0 on a roll call vote. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Change Order #7-Twyckenham Blvd Jeromy Grenard, Public Safety Director, requested tabling this item. Mr. Shriner moved to table this item. Mr. Childress seconded. Tabled 5-0 on a roll call vote. Certificate of Final Completion-N. 19th Street, Underwood Street, and Old US 231 Resurface Project Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Final Completion for the N. 19th Street, Underwood Street, and Old US 231 Resurface Project with Reith-Riley Construction. Mr. Grenard stated that substantial completion was October 2020 when construction was complete. Mr. Grenard stated that the contractor has satisfactorily completed all work items for this project as of October 16. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed 5-0 on a roll call vote Lafayette Renew Certificate of Final Completion-S. 30th Street Drainage Improvements Project Brad Talley, Renew Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Final Completion for S. 30th Street Drainage Improvements Project with Atlas Excavating. Mr. Talley stated that Atlas Excavating has completed all work for this project with final completion on November 8, 2020. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed 5-0 on a roll call vote Board of Public Works and Safety January 19th, 2021 Page 2 Parks Department Certificate of Completion-Columbian Park Lagoon Dredging Improvements Project Claudine Laufman, Parks Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Completion for the Columbian Park Lagoon Dredging Improvements Project with Merrell Bros. Mrs. Laufman stated that this project was completed on September 1, 2020. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed 5-0 on a roll call vote. Police Department Amendment #1-Agreement for Towing and Related Services Mrs. Chosnek presented to the Board and recommended approval of Amendment #1 for the Agreement for Towing and Related Services with Jim’s Garage and J&T Recovery. Mrs. Chosnek stated that this 5-year contract extension will have the exact terms and prices from the last contract. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed 5-0 on a roll call vote. CLAIMS Jeremy Diehl, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $3,591,737.56. Mr. Shriner asked a question on Page 13 regarding the NILEA Housing Expense for individuals or registration. Mr. Diehl stated this invoice is for housing only for 8 weeks encompassing all recruits. Mr. Childless asked a question on Page 11 regarding Income Survey Services. Mr. Diehl state that these are for Vinton Sidewalk Project and income eligibility of the neighborhood. President Henriott asked a question on Page 13 regarding RADkids Inc. Mr. Diehl stated that is for Rape Aggression Defense renewal for training. Discussion ensued. President Henriott asked a question on Page 20 regarding Ortman Drillings. Mr. Diehl stated that was for maintenance process performed to detect corrosion in the pipes and wells. Mr. Childress asked a question on Page 17 regarding the Duke Energy invoice in the amount of $697.11. Mr. Diehl stated that he would need to look into that and get back with Mr. Childress. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed 5-0 on a roll call vote.
