BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES February 2, 2021 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton and Norm Childress. Absent: Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the January 26, 2021 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Purchasing Declaration of Surplus Property-Fleet Maintenance Dave Payne, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for Fleet Maintenance that includes a list of spare parts that were for maintenance of vehicles no longer used by the City. These parts will be scrapped for metal value. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Tim Clary, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $4,535,769.58. Mr. Childress asked a question regarding the Lafayette Theater Purchase Orders for Vectren and Duke. Mayor Roswarski stated that the City installed 3 new air conditioning units along with other renovations. Mr. Childress asked a question on Page 12 regarding the Chemical Munitions invoice for $7,264.00. Mr. Clary stated that is for tear gas and crowd control chemicals. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Lafayette Farmer’s Market Rebecca Jones, Greater Lafayette Commerce Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Lafayette Farmer’s Market to be held every Saturday from May 1 through October 30, 2021. The closure will be from 5:00am-1:30pm. Discussion ensued regarding the details of the closure. An updated Certificate of Insurance will be provided at a later date. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety February 2, 2021 Page 2 Banner Request-Hunger Hike President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Banner Request for Hunger Hike to be held on Columbia Street from September 7-21, 2021. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Taxi Cab Permits Police Chief Flannelly presented to the Board and recommended approval of taxi cab permits for Marvin Sparger, Christine Young and Daniel Tierney. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
