MINUTES
October 19, 2021
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Norm Childress, Amy Moulton and Ron
Shriner. Absent: Cindy Murray
Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the October 12, 2021 regular meeting. Mr. Childress
seconded. Passed.
QUOTE OPENING
Rome Drive Lift Station Upgrades Project
This being the time set to open quotes for the Rome Drive Lift Station Upgrades Project and the following quotes
were received and opened:
Bowen Engineering
Indianapolis, Indiana
Quote: $193,000.00
Maddox Industrial Group
Indianapolis, Indiana
Quote: $126,915.50
Mrs. Moulton moved to take the quotes under advisement for further review. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Lafayette Renew
Recommendation for Award-2021 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project
Brad Talley, Renew Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for
Award for the 2021 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project with Granite Inliner with a Base Bid in the amount of
$888,438.00 and Alternate #1 in the amount of $48,045.00 for a total bid of $936,483.00. Mr. Shriner moved for
approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.

Economic Development
Historic Demolition Permit-1420 South Street (Garage Only)
Dennis Carson, Economic Development Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a
Historic Demolition Permit for 1420 South Street (Garage Only). Mr. Carson stated that Dann Keiser, Lafayette
Historic Preservation Officer, determined that the loss of the garage would adversely affect the historic district
and recommended upholding the 60-day waiting period. Mrs. Moulton moved to uphold the 60-day waiting
period. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
Purchasing
Declaration of Surplus Property-Parks Department
Dave Payne, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus
Property for the Parks Department that includes a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado K2500HD Pickup
VIN#1GCHK24U41E177676 City ID#6501. Mr. Payne stated that the vehicle will be sold on Govdeals.com. Mr.
Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Jeremy Diehl, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $599,576.70. Mr. Childress
asked a question on Page 8 regarding the invoices from State of Ohio-Shooting Incident Reconstruction. Mr.
Diehl stated that this is Police Training that was conducted by the Ohio Police Officer Training Academy. Mr.
Childress asked a question on Page 11-12 regarding the invoices for JALL LLC for Hotel Rooms-Recovery Site
Grant 2021. Mr. Diehl stated that this a State Grant that provides homeless and transitional citizens to seek safe
temporary housing accommodations at Hampton Inn. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded.
Passed.
