BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES April 4, 2023 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner, and Amy Moulton. Absent: Norm Childress Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the March 28, 2023 regular meeting. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Police Department Contract with Cross Safe for City of Lafayette School Crossing Guards Police Chief, Scott Galloway, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract with Cross Safe for the City of Lafayette School Crossing Guards. The contract is for a period that commences on July 15, 2023 through December 31, 2023. The terms of the contract are for a sum of $77.48 per day/per post through the end of 2023. Starting is 2024 the terms of the contract are for a sum of $79.79 per day/per post. Chief Galloway stated that the contract is the most efficient way for provide these services for the community. Cross Safe will provide the hiring, training, and the equipment for the crossing guards. Discussion ensued regarding the training provided. Kim Dziuk, Cross Safe Representative, gave a Board a brief description of what the company does and what services they will be providing the City of Lafayette through this contract. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Purchasing Declaration of Surplus Property-Fleet Maintenance Dave Payne, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Declaration of Surplus Property for Fleet Maintenance that includes a 2016 Ford Fusion 4-door sedan VIN#3FA6P0G75GR284976 City#16-26. Mr. Payne state that the vehicle will be transferred to the insurance company as part of the settlements in a total loss crash. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
