BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES October 10, 2023 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton, and Ron Shriner. Absent: Eric Rody Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the October 3, 2023 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. BID OPENING Sagamore Parkway Trail President Henriott stated that Addendum #2 was issued and the new Bid Opening Date will be October 17, 2023 at 9:00am. NEW BUSINESS Parks Department Recommendation for Award-Columbian Park Zoo New Commissary Building Claudine Laufman, Parks Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for Award for the Columbian Park Zoo New Commissary Building with Mattcon General Contractors. Their bid was determined to be complete. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Contract- Columbian Park Zoo New Commissary Building Mrs. Laufman presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the Columbian Park Zoo New Commissary Building with Mattcon General Contractors in the amount of $2,145,000.00. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Notice to Proceed- Columbian Park Zoo New Commissary Building Mrs. Laufman presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the Columbian Park Zoo New Commissary Building. The notice to proceed will begin upon approval of the contract with the substantial completion set for September 27, 2024. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-LTHC Homeless Persons Memorial Presentation and Gathering Board of Public Works and Safety October 10, 2023 Page 3 Jennifer Shook, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the LTHC Homeless Persons Memorial Presentation and Gathering to be held on December 21, 2023 from 3:00pm-6:00pm on 12th Street between Union Street and Salem Street. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Cops and Goblins Trunk or Treat M.K. Riehle, LPD Community Engagement Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Cops and Goblins Trunk of Treat to be held on October 28, 2023 from 12:00pm- 4:30pm on 6th Street between Columbia Street and South Street. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-NAMI Walk Meagan Wykoff, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the NAMI Walk to be held on October 28, 2023 from 9:00am-2:00pm at Riehle Plaza, John T. Myers Bridge, the Big 4 Depot and the route will be along a portion of Main Street from 11th Street to Riehle Plaza. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Bauer Family Resources Trunk or Treat Natalie McKenney, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Bauer Family Resources Trunk of Treat to be held on October 27, 2023 from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Fountain Street from 3rd to 4th Street. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. ANNOUCEMENTS Mayor Roswarski presented Brenda Malher a Certificate of Appreciation/Recognition for her 40 years of service with the City of Lafayette. Mrs. Malher has worked in the Utility Billing Office since 1983. Mayor Roswarski thanked Breada for her dedication and loyalty to the citizens. Mrs. Malher thanked the Mayor for his comments and is looking forward to the next 10 years.
