BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES June 11, 2024 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner, Eric Rody and Amy Moulton. Absent: Gary Henriott Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. Cindy Murray called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the June 4, 2024 regular meeting. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. BID OPENING McCaw Park Improvements Phase 2-Trails and Pickleball Courts This being the time set to open bids for the Board of Public Works and Safety for McCaw Park Improvements Phase 2-Trails and Pickleball Courts the following bids were received and opened: J. R. Kelly Company Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $2,803,000.00 Mr. Shriner moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. QUOTE OPENING Quote: Saw Mill Run Subdivision Concrete Project This being the time set to open quotes for the Board of Public Works and Safety for Saw Mill Run Subdivision Concrete Project the following quotes were received and opened: Promised Land Construction Lafayette, Indiana Concrete Drive Approach: $66,226.00 Catch Basin Grade Adjustment: $11,200.00 Board of Public Works and Safety June 11, 2024 Page 2 Case Construction Edinburgh, Indiana Concrete Drive Approach: $90,300.00 Catch Basin Grade Adjustment: $44,500.00 Milestone Contractors, L.P. Lafayette, Indiana Concrete Drive Approach: $95,284.00 Catch Basin Grade Adjustment-Curb: $35,520.00 Catch Basin Grade Adjustment-Manhole: $2,000.00 Mr. Shriner moved to take the quotes under advisement for further review. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Proposal: GMAX Price for Service Area 11B Project (Build, Operate, Transfer) This being the time set to open quotes for the Board of Public Works and Safety for GMAX Price for Service Area 11B Project (Build, Operate, Transfer) the following quotes were received and opened: Bowen Engineering Indianapolis, Indiana Proposal: $43,270,816.00 Mr. Rody moved to take the quotes under advisement for further review. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Change Order #1-Highland Park Improvements Phase 2-Trails and Pickleball Courts Jeromy Grenard, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Change Order #1 for Highland Park Improvements Phase 2-Trails and Pickleball Courts with Heartland Contractors. The change Order is an increase in the amount of $22,080.00 which brings the revised contract amount to $158,332.00. The change order includes the removal and replacement of 480ft concrete curb on the north side of Cherokee Avenue between 5th Street and Wea Avenue. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Rody seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Jeremy Diehl, Controller, presented for Board approval of Claims in the amount of $828,220.07. Mrs. Murray asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Rody moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety June 11, 2024 Page 3 MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Star and Stipes (Fireworks and Concert) Cindy Murray, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Stars & Stripes Fireworks and Concert to be held on July 4th, 2024 from 12:00midnight-11:00pm at Riehle Plaza, John T. Myers Bridge and the streets near Riehle Plaza. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
