MINUTES
August 20, 2024
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner, Amy Moulton
and Eric Rody
Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the August 13, 2024 regular meeting. Mr. Shriner seconded.
Passed. Mr. Rody abstained.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Contract-Sarasota Drive Curb Project
Jeromy Grenard, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the
Sarasota Drive Curb Project with Dixon Construction in the amount of $62,580.00. The purpose of the project is
to replace 1,500 feet of additional curb in the Edgelea neighborhood. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr.
Rody seconded. Passed.
Notice to Proceed- Sarasota Drive Curb Project
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the Sarasota Drive
Curb Project with Dixon Construction. The project is set to start today. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs.
Moulton seconded. Passed.
Lafyette Housing Authority
Release of Mortgage-1111 Riverton, West Lafayette
Valerie, Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Mortgage
for 1111 Riverton in West Lafayette, Indiana. Mrs. Oakley stated that this property has exceeded the minimum
home period of affordability. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Rody seconded.
Release of Grant Lien and Restrictive Covenant Agreement-1111 Riverton, West Lafayette
Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Grant Lien and Restrictive
Covenant Agreement for 1111 Riverton in West Lafayette, Indiana. Mr. Rody moved for approval. Mr. Shriner
seconded. Passed.

Police Department
Addendum #1-Cross Safe Agreement with Lafayette Police Department
Police Chief, Scott Galloway, requested that the Board table this item until next week. Mrs. Murray moved to
table this item. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Tabled.
Purchasing
Declaration of Surplus Property-Fleet Maintenance
Dave Payne, Purchasing Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus
Property for Fleet Maintenance that includes:

Mr. Payne stated that the vehicle was previously taken out of service and has been used for scrap parts for other
Lodal garbage trucks needing parts. This vehicle will be sold for scrap. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs.
Moulton seconded. Passed.
Declaration of Surplus Property-Puchasing (Habitat ReStore)
Mr. Payne presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for Purchasing
(Habitat Restore) that includes:

Mr. Payne stated that these items are being replaced as part of the remodel of the Utility Billing Office. The items
will be sold to Lafayette Habitat ReStore for $1.00. Mr. Rody moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded.

Declaration of Surplus Property-Puchasing (Recovery Café)
Mr. Payne presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for Purchasing
(Recovery Cafe) that includes:

Mr. Payne stated that these items are being replaced during the remodel of the utility Billing Office. The items
will be sold to Recovery Café Lafayette for $1.00. Mr. Rody moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Jenna Karle, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval of Claims in the amount of $2,990,379.37. Mr.
Rody asked a question on Page 18 regarding the Global Media Post Limited invoice for Japan Times Article 2024
U.S. Great Lakes Area. Mayor Roswarski stated that the City of Lafayette put an article in the Japan Times and
their affiliations due to the city’s relationship with Subaru and other companies in Japan. This is a special edition
for the USA/Japan relations. Mayor Roswarski stated that the cost of the article will be split in half with Greater
Lafayette Commerce. Mr. Rody moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
