MINUTES OF THE LAFAYETTE COMMON COUNCIL August 2, 2021 REGULAR MEETING (https://www.youtube.com/user/CityofLafayetteIN/live The Common Council of the City of Lafayette, Indiana met in regular session Monday, August 2, 2021 at 6:00 pm. President Weast-Williamson called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance led by Boy Scout Troop # 373 was given to the flag of our Country. Present: Heide, Klinker, Nargi, Reynolds, Campbell, Brown, Ahlersmeyer, Downing and Weast- Williamson City Clerk Cindy Murray and City Attorney Jacque Chosnek were present. Councilman Campbell moved to recess for a public hearing on the following ordinances, Councilman Brown seconded. Ordinance No. 2021-29 (An Ordinance for Appropriation of the Band Fund (Fund #2720)-Lafayette Citizens Band) Ordinance No. 2021-31 (An Ordinance to Vacate A Portion of a Drainage Easement Located on a Part of Lot in Commerce Place Subdivision, Phase 1, Located in the City of Lafayette, Indiana) Resolution No. 2021-17 (A Resolution Approving A Waiver of Noncompliance Subject to Final Public Hearing-Worwag Coatings, LLC) No public comment was heard. Councilman Campbell moved to reconvene the regular meeting, Councilman Klinker seconded. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote. Councilman Campbell moved to approve the minutes of the July 5, 2021 council meeting, Councilman Heide seconded. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote. Mayor Roswarski spoke regarding the ordinance and requested the council consider suspending the rules to allow the ordinance to pass so the staffing changes can take affect promptly. Ordinance No. 2021-40 passed 8-0 on a roll call vote on first reading. Councilman Campbell moved to suspend the rules and hear Ordinance No. 2021-40 for second and final reading, Councilman Reynolds seconded. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote. Councilwoman Ahlersmeyer moved for passage, Councilman Brown seconded. Dan Teder, Attorney for the petitioner spoke regarding the ordinance. Ordinance No. 2021-43 passed 8-0 on a roll call vote on first and final reading. Councilman Campbell moved for passage, Councilman Brown seconded. John Collier, Economic Development spoke regarding the resolution. Reports by the Council: Councilman Klinker thanked the Highland Park Committee and the Centennial Neighborhood for their hard work in assisting to preserve their neighborhoods. Councilman Downing thanked Mayor Roswarski and the Street Department for the recently painted white lines on the streets. Mayor Roswarski noted the city has purchased their own equipment and painting is done by the Traffic Department. Councilwoman Nargi congratulated Cindy Murray, City Clerk on her Hole in One during a recent golf outing. There was no Public Comment.
