MINUTES OF THE LAFAYETTE COMMON COUNCIL
September 6, 2022

The Common Council of the City of Lafayette, Indiana met in regular session Tuesday, September 6,
2022 at 6:00 pm. In the Common Council Chamber at 20. N 6th Street.
President Brown called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
Present: Klinker, Nargi, Snyder, Reynolds, Hession Weiss, Ahlersmeyer, Weast-Williamson, and Brown.
Absent: Downing
1st Deputy Clerk Mindy Miller Riehle and City Attorney Jacque Chosnek were present.
Councilwoman Hession Weiss moved to recess for public hearing on Ordinance 2022-31 (An Ordinance
for Appropriation of Local Option Highway User Tax Funds (County Wheel tax) Fund # 2490).
Councilman Reynolds seconded. No public comment was heard. Councilman Klinker moved to
reconvene the regular meeting, Councilwoman Nargi seconded. Motion passed.
Councilwoman Hession Weiss moved to approve the minutes of the August 1, 2022 council meeting.
Councilwoman Ahlersmeyer seconded. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

Ordinances for Second Reading:
The Clerk read Ordinance 2022-31 (An Ordinance for Appropriation of Local Option Highway User Tax
Funds (County Wheel Tax) Fund #2490) by title only on second and final reading. Councilwoman Nargi
moved for passage, Councilwoman Hession Weiss seconded. Mayor Roswarski spoke on the many streets
being paved this season, along with curbs and handicap ramps. Ordinance 2022-31 passed 7-0 on a roll
call vote on second and final reading.
Ordinances for First Reading:
The Clerk read Ordinance 2022-32 (An Ordinance to Amend the Zoning of Tippecanoe, County, Indiana,
to Rezone Certain Real Estate from I3 to GB, 505 S Farabee Drive, Cash-Can, LLC-Petitioner) by title
only on first and final reading. Councilman Reynolds moved for passage, Councilman Snyder seconded.
Brad Neely, attorney for the petitioner, spoke regarding the ordinance. Ordinance 2022-32 passed 7-0 on
a roll call vote on first and final reading.
The Clerk read Ordinance 2022-33 (An Ordinance to Amend Section 2.1.260 of the Lafayette Municipal
Code-Council District.) by title only on first reading. Councilwoman Ahlersmeyer moved for passage,
Councilwoman Weast-Williamson seconded. Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney explained the process for
redistricting due to the 2020 Census changes. Ordinance 2022-33 passed 7-0 on a roll call vote on first
reading.
There are no Resolutions.

There was no Report by the Mayor.
Miscellaneous or New Business:
Councilman Klinker moved to set a public hearing for the City of Lafayette 2023 Budget and GLPTC
2023 Budget for Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 5:00 PM in the Common Council Chamber.
Councilwoman Nargi seconded. Motion passed
Reports by the Council:
Councilwoman Hession Weiss thanked Mayor Roswarski, Cindy Murray, city clerk and the
councilmembers for welcoming The American Legion Auxiliary Hoosier State Girls in her absence at the
August Meeting.
Councilman Klinker moved to approve Jim Gothard to fill John Henk’s position on the Fire Merit
Commission, Councilwoman Nargi seconded. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
Mayor Roswarski spoke in support of Mr. Gothard.
There was no Public Comment.
Councilman Klinker move to adjourn. Councilwoman Nargi seconded. Meeting adjourned at 6:17 PM.
