LAFAYETTE HEARING AUTHORITY
September 24, 2013
The Lafayette Hearing Authority met on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the City Council
Chambers of Lafayette City Hall. Present were: Cindy Murray and Ron Shriner. Absent: Gary Henriott
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy Attorney, was also present.
Mr. Shriner called the meeting to order.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the July 23, 2013 minutes. Mr. Shriner seconded. Motion Carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Order to Comply and Notice to Appear at Demolition Hearing- 1408 S. 19th Street
Jenny Leshney, City Engineer, stated that this property is owned by James Morrison, Steve Fuller and
Molly Fuller. Initial contract was made on October 24, 2012 at which time the property/structure was full
of trash and debris. The Engineering Office declared it unfit for human habitation and received a court
order to remove all of the trash. Mrs. Leshney stated that the unsafe structure letter was sent on June 27,
2013. The shingles are deteriorated, drywall is collapsed, mold present, wood trusses are deteriorating and
the electrical devises are compromised from severe roof leaks. Mrs. Leshney recommended demolition of
the property. Mrs. Murray moved to affirm the order for demolition. Mr. Shriner seconded. Motion
Carried.

Mrs. Leshney stated that this property is owned by Brian Walker and Rocco Loro and initial contact was
made on February 15, 2013. The shingles are starting to deteriorate, soffit and fascia are missing, the
windows are covered up with plywood, gutters falling off, siding missing and melted in areas, a hold
through the roof, the inside in exposed to weather and there is fire damage throughout. Mrs. Leshney
stated that Scott Dieterle, Engineering Office, spoke with Brian Walker who indicated that the structure
would be taken down over the summer and there has been no activity on the property. Mrs. Leshney
recommended demolition of the property. Mrs. Murray moved to affirm the order for demolition. Mr.
Shriner seconded. Motion Carried.
