LAFAYETTE HEARING AUTHORITY July 8, 2014 The Lafayette Hearing Authority met on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the City Council Chambers of Lafayette City Hall. Present were: Cindy Murray and Gary Henriott. Absent: Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy Attorney, was also present. Mr. Henriott called the meeting to order. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the May 20, 2014 minutes. Mr. Henriott seconded. Motion Carried. UPDATES 1325 Central Street Mr. Henriott asked what the status was on this property. Scott Dieterle, Engineering Office, stated that this property has been ordered for demolition and awaiting funds for the demolition. OLD BUSINESS Order to Comply and Notice to Appear at Demolition Hearing-617 New York Street Mr. Dieterle stated he has been in contact since the last meeting with 5-6 different people. Several of those people have decided not to do the work. Mr. Dieterle stated that he gave one gentleman all the information that he had regarding the property. Vista bought the property on tax sale. Mrs. Chosnek stated that the biggest hurdle with getting this property fixed up is no one can get clean title to purchase for rehab. The sale at tax sale alleviated that problem and now someone can come in and purchase the property with clear title and opens up the window of opportunity for those that are capable of the work. Mrs. Chosnek stated that the property is officially for sale by the tax sale company in the amount of $28,000.00 with the intention of selling and not to rehabilitate it. There have been a couple of people that have contacted them with an interest in purchasing the property, one from the neighborhood and the other was Habitat for Humanity. Mrs. Chosnek recommended continuing this until the next meeting in September to give a short window of opportunity to give the interested parties will purchase the property and make rehabilitation feasible before the order for demolition is given. Mrs. Chosnek stated that the neighbor has been hired to take care of the outside of the property for the time being with compensation. The Deed will be recorded at the end of this week and then they will proceed to a Quiet Title Action. Mrs. Murray moved to continue this order. Mr. Henriott seconded. Motion Carried. ADDITIONAL UPDATES Mr. Henriott requested a multi-layered map of the houses that have been and are scheduled to be demolished, the LHA action has influenced the rehab of the property and other relevant information. 63 Rostone Circle Mrs. Chosnek stated that this property has been demolished. The attorney representing the estate has contacted Mrs. Chosnek inquiry when he would be receiving an invoice for payment. 1329 Central Street Mrs. Chosnek stated that the property has been demolished and the owner of the property has deeded the property to the City of Lafayette. 507 S. 1st Street Mrs. Chosnek stated that the property has been demolished.
