800 Main St. - Removal/replacement of garage and 2nd floor exterior modifications
Sean Lutes introduced this petition, submitted by Barry Knechtel of KJG Architecture and owned by Dustin Zufall.
This project will include removing the existing garage on the northeast side of the building to construct a larger
garage with loft and outdoor rooftop patio with a turf portion for a dog run. The new two car garage will have stairs
going up to the loft floor which will provide the apartment with private access to the garage and rooftop patio.
Aluminum railing will surround the patio and dog run. A new garage door and metal door will be installed on the first
floor and a large sliding glass French door will be installed at the garage loft level to access the patio. Exterior
finishes will include brick, fiber cement siding, and a new TPO roof. The COA Committee recommended conditional
approval pending all sides of the first floor garage have a brick veneer and the garage door and exterior door on first
floor match in color. The COA submitted addressed the COA Committee's concerns. John Burns made a motion to
approve the petition, Kevin Klinker seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
800 Main St. - Modification to door facing 8th St.
Sean Lutes introduced this petition, submitted by Barry Knechtel of KJG Architecture and owned by Rick Li. This
project is for modification of an existing set of wooden exterior doors and an addition of a new exterior door on the
first floor level facing 8th St. The entrance is the original 1860s access. The doors are for residential entry being
modified for security reasons. This COA reflects recommendations by the COA Committee that the original wooden
doors be restored and maintained in an open position (much like the Tippecanoe County Court House) and install
new doors behind them. The proposal also mainta ins the existing step and stoop at this 8th St. entry. John Burns
made a motion to approve the petition, Shawna McCully seconded . The motion passed unanimously.
