Approval of the Minutes Ann Amato moved to recommend approval of the May 22, 2023 meeting minutes. Shawna Mccully seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. New Business Public Relations and Education Committee: no report District Committee: no report COA Committee: 511 Ferry St. - new windows Removal of 2nd story, wood infill panels in original window openings and replacement with new windows to accommodate development of future 2nd story apartments. The original windows were removed many years ago so this would re-establish some of the windows on the second floor. The front (north side) of the building and the first- floor window openings (covered with wood) do not change. The existing artwork on the wood infill panels on the first floor will remain. In some of the new window locations, brick infill will also be necessary. A new limestone or precast sill will be installed under the new windows as well. Amy Paget made a motion to recommend approval of the application, Shawna Mccully seconded. The motion passed unanimously. 800 Main St. - residing of cupola (retroactive approval request) The existing siding on the cupola atop this building was removed inadvertently (due to leaking) without a COA due to owner oversight. Previous modifications to the back of this building for the new residential units on the second floor were reviewed and approved by the Commission a few months ago but the removal/replacement of the vinyl siding on the cupola was not included in that COA. The work is already done, and the owner is requesting retroactive  approval of what was installed. The COA Committee recommended that a larger louvered panel be considered on the west face of the cupola, if possible, and that it and the other louvered vent panels be painted to match the color of the vinyl siding. If a larger louvered vent panel is not possible, the COA Committee recommended leaving the existing louvered panels in place but painting them to match the color of the vinyl siding. Stephanie Rogers made a motion to recommend approval of the application with the condition to paint the vents to match the vinyl siding, Shawna Mccully seconded. The motion passed unanimously. 719 Main St. - replacement window This COA was withdrawn by the applicant. Staff Report John Collier spoke about continuing education through NAPC. John will forward commissioner names, email addresses, and commissioners' roles on the HPC to NAPC so that commissioners will receive emails directly from NAPC with continuing education event offerings. This will make signing up for conference events easier for all involved. All members present agreed to have John forward their names to NAPC. John Burns is the only commissioner to date to participate in continuing education. The option to watch continuing education programs after the fact is also an option. The next CAMP meeting will be held virtually on September 13. More details will be available shortly. Public Comment No public comments were received. Adjournment There being no further business to bring before the Commission, Shawna McCully moved to adjourn the meeting. Julie Ginn seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously, and the meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission was adjourned at 7:19 pm.
