Call to Order: 5:33 PM – Dwayne Moffitt – Vice Chair Recognized and introduced everyone present. 2. Introductions - not needed. 3. Approve Minutes – Randy Studt (JUL 25, 2012) Move – Harmon/ Second – Wright 4. Review Complaints since last meeting – Complaint One– was referred on to the EEOC Complaint Two – the agency has asked for mediation. The complainant has not responded by mail or by phone. The issue was housing based on disability. If he does not respond by Monday, OCT 29, the case will be closed. 5. Old Business Ordinance Sub-Committee – Atherton-Childress/ - No report The language has already been researched and collected. The goal is to update the ordinance to include age, veteran status, gender identity and expression. Randy will be replaced by Bryan to date. And Dewayne will volunteer for this committee as well. Outreach and Promotions Committee: Palacios/ Atherton-Childress/ Jones / Moffett - Christy and Carina got together to talk about the locations where brochures are available and what might be additional logical locations. Dewayne and Carina brainstormed flyers and other means of promotions. The city will make cards for the commissioners with email for all to contribute to – no city email is possible. We are able to use the office phone to avoid using personal cell phones.  The Lafayette HRC Facebook page has no activity lately. We do have likes, but people can't post to that. Carina asked : Is there any opposition to being connected to Linked-In ? It is more of a professional site. There was consensus on this and she will set it up. LafayetteIN.HRC@gmail.com – Carina will set this up and send all commissioners the link and password. Training – Moffitt /Atherton-Childress – no report – will have materials next meeting Festival Committee: OUTfest – Aug 18 – Downtown Main Street Dewayne was there with the other commissions. Great location and we had a lot of traffic. We share everything with the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and Diversity Roundtable. We need to get our own stuff in a box and be able to get this to the events. Global Fest – Sep 1 – Morton Center Was cancelled. Hanna Fest – Sep 3 – Hanna Center Cheryl served at Hanna, but didn't have much traffic. We only need to schedule workers til 4 PM. Would it be worth it to schedule a game or an event? Would that raise our visibility? Latino Fest – Sep 8 – IVY Tech The materials were not available and made it hard to really do outreach. 7. New Business: Calendar for 2013 This will continue to be the fourth Thursday at 5:30 pm at the Lafayette City Council Chambers. Motion – Wright/ 2nd – Atherton-Childress, approved. JAN 24 / APR 25 / JUL 25/ OCT 24 Nominations and Election of Officers 2013 – Renominations – CJ Brown, Bryan Bell and Carina Atherton- Childress – will be reappointed.
