REGULAR MEETING OF THE
LAFAYETTE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD
4:00 pm
20 April 2020
The City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Board met virtually via GotoMeeting, April 20, 2020
at 4:00 pm. The meeting was also livestreamed for the public at
https://www.youtube.com/user/CityofLafayetteIN/live
The meeting was called to order by Park Board President Maurie Denney. Board members
present were Pat Corey and Dave Mecklenburg. Mayor Tony Roswarski, Parks Superintendent
Claudine Laufman, Parks Director of Operations Jon Miner, and Substitute Recording Secretary
Dana Rhodes were also present. City staff members present were Jacque Chosnek, Andy Milam
and Rob Blue.
Upon motion by Dave Mecklenburg, seconded by Pat Corey, and unanimously carried, minutes
of the March 16, 2020 Parks Board meeting were approved.
Upon motion by Pat Corey, seconded by Dave Mecklenburg, and unanimously carried, claims in
the amount of $37,261.66 were approved.
Superintendent’s Report:
Superintendent Claudine Laufman indicated that the Parks Department has been
following the executive order by shutting down playgrounds and shelters and installing
basketball goal barriers. Patrons have been doing a good job of abiding by the order and
staying clear of shut down areas as well as social distancing in parks. The Department
has been employing essential team members to work and adhere to CDC
recommendations by maintaining social distancing. Outside work has been moving
forward to complete what is needed.
Opening of Loeb RFP Lease/Use Proposals
Superintendent Laufman stated that the Parks Department sought out proposals for the
use of Loeb Stadium.
Mayor Tony Roswarski expressed that the Department is excited to take a look at the bids
and begin the process of determining a user group for Loeb stadium. The Department
will keep options open while moving through the next steps of finding who will operate
the stadium.
Director of Operations Jon Miner proceeded to open the two sealed bids and announced
the names of the bidders as the following:
o Lafayette Family Entertainment
o Main Street Indiana
Upon motion by Pat Corey, seconded by Dave Mecklenburg, and unanimously carried,
the board voted to take the two proposals under advisement.
Upon discussion, Board Member Dave Mecklenburg expressed his apprehension that the
uncertain times during the COVID-19 situation may have taken a toll on the number of

bid proposals received. Mayor Roswarski responded that the proposals will be evaluated
by the team; the evaluators will keep options open and go from there.

There being no further business to come before the Board, on motion by Dave Mecklenburg,
seconded by Pat Corey, and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 4:11 pm.
