REGULAR MEETING OF THE LAFAYETTE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD 4:00 pm 28 June 2021 The City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Board met in regular meeting at 4:00pm, June 28, 2021. The meeting was held at Rush Pavilion in Columbian Park. The meeting was called to order by Park Board President, Maurie Denney. Board members present were Pat Corey and Matt Metzger. Park Superintendent Claudine Laufman, Parks Director of Operations Jon Miner, Zoo Director Neil Dale, Marketing Manager Samantha Haville, Maintenance Manager Mike Perry, Security Director Kurt Wolf, Assistant Security Director Matt Henley and Recording Secretary Jenny Spencer were also present. Upon motion by Ms. Corey, seconded by Mr. Metzger, and unanimously carried, minutes of the June 14, 2021 Parks Board meeting were approved. Upon motion of Mr. Metzger, seconded by Ms. Corey, and unanimously carried, General Fund Claims in the amount of $20,261.52, Non-Reverting Fund Claims in the amount of $34,964.00 for a total of $55,255.52 were approved. Superintendent’s Report  To begin the Superintendent’s Report newly hired Assistant Director of Security was given a chance to introduce himself.  Zoo Director Neil Dale provided an update on Zoo revenue. Gift Shop and Zoo revenue is more than double this time in 2019 with train running included. Keeping gift shop inventory stocked has been difficult.  Director of Operations Miner provided an update on field work at Crosser. Denny Hickman has been contracted to work 12-15 hours per week on edging and other detail field work. At McCaw Park, we will be speaking with Turf Dogs about detail work. At Armstrong two fields will be taken out of rotation during fall and spring leagues. There is room for improvement in how user groups are maintaining the fields. Upon motion of Mr. Metzger, seconded by Ms. Corey and unanimously carried, a fee of $4 was instituted for a thirty-minute pedal boat ride with a $25 fee for failure to return the pedal boat within the time frame. Riders must be 14 or over to ride without an adult. Upon motion of Mr. Metzger, seconded by Ms. Corey, and unanimously carried; the Board approved the reading of communication sent to Mr. Denney.
