Claims in the amount of $23,544.54 and Non-Reverting Fund Claims in the amount of
$60,854.10, for a total of $84,398.64 were approved.
Superintendent’s Report
• Superintendent Laufman introduced David Krachower, Aviators General Manager. Mr.
Krachower discussed season overall. The team had a 25-34 record and the entire
coaching staff was dismissed. However, revenue did increase. There were five sell-outs.
Food options were added to concessions menu and a rivalry game versus Terre Haute was
added to the schedule. The 2nd Annual Street Fest was a great success.
• Director of Operations Jon Miner provided the season end aquatics report. Increases at
Vinton Pool were attributable to hosting YMCA camps. Castaway Bay attendance was up
slightly compared to 2021. Attendance at Tropicanoe Cove averaged 839 patrons per day
with 80 open days; total attendance being 60,733. Concessions revenue increased. This
was partially due to an increase in some items prices this summer.
• Emily Butler, Assistant Manager of McAllister Recreation Center provided a summer
camp update. There were 56 days of camp with 162 campers attending daily on average.
There were 339 children signed up for camp with $260,408 in revenue. Scholarships
were awarded to twenty-two campers totaling $10,000.
• Marketing Manager Haville provided an update for her department. Media interviews
were given for the Justin Moore concert. The Boo at the Zoo member pre-sale was
announced with pricing through Sept. 25. The first mother/son event at McAllister is
scheduled for Oct. 8 at Mike Aulbey’s Arrowhead Bowl. There was a write up on the
penguins as well. We will be hosting a movie night at Loeb Stadium showing Coco on

October 7, with gates opening at 5pm and movie beginning at 6pm. Ms. Haville also
provided a social media update with all platforms showing an increase over the previous
month.
• Zoo Director Dale began his update with information on Boo at the Zoo. It will be held
October 20, 21 and 22 from 3:30pm – 7:30pm. He has over $10k in sponsorships with
many in-kind sponsors as well. Over 370 tickets have already been sold. Tickets for the
general public went on sale today.
• Superintendent Laufman introduced Shannon Taylor who was recently hired as the
Assistant Director of Safety and Security. She comes to us with over 20 years of law
enforcement experience.
Upon motion by Mr. Metzger, seconded by Mr. Denney, and unanimously carried, Declaration
of Surplus property was approved (See Attachment A).
Communications:
• Board: Mr. Denney inquired about the number of tickets sold for the Justin Moore
concert. Just over 2500 tickets were sold. A brief discussion ensued regarding the
concert’s success and lessons.
• Public: A member of the public, Gene Hunt, came before the Board to request a game
timing feature for the scoreboards at Lyboult. Director of Operations Miner advised that
he would investigate the pricing and compatibility with existing equipment manufacturer.
• Written: none
There being no further business to come before the Board, on motion of Mr. Mecklenburg,
seconded by Mr. Metzger, and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 4:33 pm.
