REGULAR MEETING OF THE LAFAYETTE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD 4:00 pm 24 June 2024 The City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Board met in regular meeting at 4:00pm, June 24, 2024. The meeting was held at Rush Pavilion in Columbian Park. The meeting was called to order by Park Board President Matt Metzger. Board members present were Dave Mecklenburg and Jan Abney. Parks Superintendent Claudine Laufman, Director of Operations Jon Miner and Recording Secretary Jenny Spencer were present. Parks staff members present were Mike Perry, Neil Dale, Colin Miner and Samantha Haville. Upon motion by Ms. Abney, seconded by Mr. Mecklenburg and unanimously carried, minutes of the June 10, 2024, Parks Board meeting were approved. Upon motion of Ms. Abney, seconded by Mr. Mecklenburg, and unanimously carried, General Fund Claims in the amount of $28,690.22, Non-Reverting Fund Claims in the amount of $89,074.68 for a total of $117,764.90 were approved. Superintendent’s Report:  Marketing Manager Samantha Haville shared an event update. The first Art in the Park was June 11th. There were over 800 in attendance with perfect weather and great vendor sales. The second Art in the Park, “Decades Night” will be in Columbian Park tomorrow night. Thursday, June 27th brings the 38 Special concert to Loeb Stadium. Volunteers are still needed. Aquatics Report - After a slower start the recent heatwave boosted numbers. With twenty-five operating days, attendance is averaging 979 per day at Tropicanoe Cove. The cabana rentals have been well received. Castaway Bay average attendance per day is 270 and Vinton pool is 179. The Aqua Loop slide is not operational. A technician from Whitewater Manufacturing is scheduled to assist. Park Board Minutes 6/24/24 Page 1 Project Updates: - Superintendent Laufman thanked those in attendance who assisted with the dedication of the new playground at Columbian Park. - Zoo Director Neil Dale shared that the Zoo Commissary is progressing well. The trusses and joists have been delivered. The family farm will have to close during installation due to the use of a crane. - There was only one bidder for the McCaw Park Phase Two project. It was over budget. Mayor Roswarski is considering funding and will most likely be moving the project forward. Communications:  Board: Mr. Metzger also thanked other board members for attending the Columbian Park Playground dedication.
