REGULAR MEETING OF THE LAFAYETTE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD 4:00 pm 8 July 2024 The City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Board met in regular meeting at 4:00pm, July 8, 2024. The meeting was held at Rush Pavilion in Columbian Park. The meeting was called to order by Park Board President Matt Metzger. Board members present were Dave Mecklenburg, Siany Molina and Jan Abney. Parks Superintendent Claudine Laufman, Director of Operations Jon Miner were present. Parks staff members present were Mike Perry, Neil Dale, Christine Hurley, Colin Miner, Samantha Haville and Alex Tanksley. Upon motion by Ms. Abney, seconded by Mr. Mecklenburg and unanimously carried, minutes of the July 8, 2024, Parks Board meeting were approved. Upon motion of Mr. Mecklenburg, seconded by Ms. Abney, and unanimously carried, General Fund Claims in the amount of $33,595.49, Non-Reverting Fund Claims in the amount of $68,570.38 for a total of $102,165.87 were approved. Superintendent’s Report:  Marketing Manager Samantha Haville provided an event update. Upcoming events at Tropicanoe Cove include: Taylor Shines on July 13, Moms Day July 14, and Shark Week July 22-26. Other events include a cookie class at McAllister, a Sounds of Summer concert on Memorial Island on July 17. Upcoming event at Loeb include Parmalee and Taylor Shines on July 26 and July 27 respectively. The end of summer Art in the Park in July 30 at Armstrong Park. Aquatics Report  Operations Director Jon Miner provided an aquatics update. Average daily attendance at Tropicanoe Cove is 884. It was 803 in 2023. Daily attendance is also higher at both Castaway Bay and Vinton Pool. Concessions revenue for 2024 is also increased year over year. Project Updates:  Superintendent Laufman shared that the McCaw Park Phase 2 bid goes to the Board of Works for approval on July 9.
