REGULAR MEETING OF THE LAFAYETTE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD 4:00 pm 22 July 2024 The City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Board met in regular meeting at 4:00pm, July 22, 2024. The meeting was held at Rush Pavilion in Columbian Park. The meeting was called to order by Park Board President Matt Metzger. Board members present were Dave Mecklenburg, and Jan Abney. Parks Superintendent Claudine Laufman and Parks staff members Mike Perry, Chad Aldridge, Samantha Haville, Alex Tanksley were also present. Upon motion by Ms. Abney, seconded by Mr. Mecklenburg, and unanimously carried, minutes of the July 8, 2024, Parks Board meeting were approved. Upon motion of Mr. Mecklenburg, seconded by Ms. Abney, and unanimously carried, General Fund Claims in the amount of $67,223.99, Non-Reverting Fund Claims in the amount of $57,405.98 for a total of $124,629.97 were approved. Superintendent’s Report:  Marketing Manager Samantha Haville provided an event update. - The first Sounds of Summer concert was held last week with Scott Greeson and Vickie Maris performing. The next event in that series will be Wednesday, August 21st with The Prannies. - Events at Tropicanoe Cove include Shark Week beginning July 22nd - Art in the Park End of Summer Bash at Armstrong is July 30th and the postponed Dog Days of Summer Art in the Park at McCaw Park will be held on Aug. 6th. - Zoo Member Appreciation is July 30th - McAllister Daycation Trip to West Baden is July 31st Project Updates:  Superintendent Laufman shared a project update: - The trusses are complete at the Zoo Commissary and the decking is up. - Gravel has been installed on the access drive at McCaw Park. The pickleball courts have been milled up. A contract with Alt & Witzig for third party testing will be going before the Board of Works tomorrow for and estimated $8,042.25.
