Welcome and Call to Order
Don Teder welcomed everyone to the meeting, noted that a quorum was present, and opened the meeting of the
Lafayette Redevelopment Commission at 11:00 a.m.
Approval of the Minutes
Jim Terry moved to approve the minutes of the Redevelopment Commission meeting from June 27, 2019. Jos
Holman seconded and the motion passed.
New Business
RESOLUTION NO. LRC 2019-06 A Resolution Recommending Designation Of An Economic Revitalization
Area For Tax Abatement And Recommending Approval Of Deduction For Tax Abatement Southwire Company,
LLC-Personal Property - Southwire Co., LLC over the years has been making substantial investments in their
plant, equipment and employees. This is their latest investment in equipment in the amount of $22.5M and they
are pledging to retain 170 employees and add an additional 15. Dave Metz of Southwire LLC, spoke about the
history Southwire has had in the Lafayette area. During the five year project Southwire wants to invest in
equipment improvement and job retention. Mayor Roswarski spoke in full support of the abatement. Jos
Holman asked for clarification on the 10-year ERA designation and the 7-year abatement, which Jacque
Chosnek explained. Jos Holman moved to approve Resolution No. LRC 2019-06. Shelly Henriott seconded and
the motion passed.
Director’s Report
John Collier, Asst. Director, Economic Development, gave the director’s report in place of Dennis Carson who
was out of town. Two bids were received for the Streetscape Phase VI project and are currently being evaluated.
If awarded, we hope to have the project completed by the end of November. Traffic flow will be altered during
the project, but Third Street will remain open.
Wabash Walls II public art project is underway and going well. Margy Deverall said that there has been positive
feedback from the community.
The Wabash Neighborhood Plan is also underway with consultant MKSK and it is going very well and the
neighborhood is very engaged in the process.
Jos Holman moved to approve the Director’s Report. Shelly Henriott seconded and the motion passed.
July 2019 Claims
T.J. Thieme moved to approve the July 2019 claims in the amount of Five million, fourteen thousand, nine
hundred thirty-one dollars and thirty-five cents ($5,014,931.35). Jim Terry seconded and the motion passed.
Public Comment
Don Teder asked for any comments from the public; no comments were made.
Adjournment
Jos Holman moved to adjourn the meeting. Shelly Henriott seconded and the meeting of the Lafayette
Redevelopment Commission was adjourned at 11:12 a.m.
