City of Lake Forest Park Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Regular Meeting Summary January 27, 2026 CALL TO ORDER: 7:00 P.M. PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Tyler Dittman, Amy Hanegan, Linda Holman, Maurice Jones Jr, Steve Feth STAFF AND OTHERS PRESENT: Cory Mattson – Community Programs Planner Councilmember Matt Muilenburg MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC PRESENT: None WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS Round Table of Introductions ADOPTION OF AGENDA Steve motioned to approve the agenda, Amy seconded the motion to approve, the agenda was approved unanimously. REVIEW/APPROVE MEETING MINUTES Amy motioned to approve the October Meeting Minutes, Linda seconded the motion to approve, the minutes were approved unanimously. BUSINESS  2026 PRAB Work Plan Discussion and Adoption Board discussed the 2026 Work Plan, previous projects completed and goals/projects to continue into 2026. Ideas such as working with the planning commission to update a parks/trails map, bringing yoga in the park back, park planning for Brookside Park, continuing aquatics conversation, and amplifying park and recreation articles/social media out to the public, and more. Steve motioned to approve the 2026 Work Plan, Linda seconded the motion, the 2026 Work Plan was approved unanimously. Tyler will present the 2026 Work Plan to Council February 12th, while giving an update on 2025 accomplishments and goals for 2026.   Blue Heron Park Project Update Linda noted the Blue Heron Park Project has received a generous 10k grant from King County and Rod Dembowskis office. Funding will be used for things like removing the black locust and working with local artists to develop new signage for educational purposes and art integration. Linda wants to talk to the gentlemen who did the Shoreline Historical Museum’s Miyawaki Urban Forest project to see if this site would be a good candidate. Work Parties will take place the second Saturday’s of each month moving forward, 9:00 A.M. to Noon.  Lakefront Park Project Updates The Lakefront Park Project design is on delay until the Hearing Exam is over, which will start February 24th, go possibly till March 5th. The neighbor filed a SEPA appeal that will concur during the same time. In the meantime, the group can move forward with the history/art sign integration project. Will start looking at photo options next meeting.  Other Amy brought up the Porty Potty latch at Horizon not working, wondered how there could be additional bathrooms added to the park. Cory noted that people could start fundraising for bathrooms, there are grants out there for bathrooms and showing community support for a project like this is appreciated in applications along with dollars to support, but is a larger project the City is not ready to take on at the moment. Group noted there are still three Youth Advisory positions open on the Park Board for high school through college level students. There are two normal positions vacant, however, one should be filled at the next council meeting dependent on council approval, and one at an upcoming meeting in March from applications applied to over the summer. Restructuring the Board’s chair position also got brought up to be two co-chairs rather than a chair and vice chair, group will discuss at an upcoming meeting. PUBLIC COMMENTS None ADJOURN: 8:00 PM
