CALL TO ORDER Mayor Sheehy called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Ms. Jillian Usher, Lake Havasu Museum of History, led in the pledge of Allegiance. 3. ROLL CALL Present: 7- Mayor Cal Sheehy, Councilmember Nancy Campbell, Councilmember David Lane, Councilmember Michele Lin, Councilmember Cameron Moses, Councilmember Jeni Coke and Vice Mayor Jim Dolan *Councilmember Campbell was present via remote conferencing. 4. PUBLIC HEARINGS 4.1 ID 22-3210 Adopt Resolution No. 22-3608 Declaring and Adopting the Official Canvass of the Results of the Primary Election Held on August 2, 2022 (Kelly Williams) City Clerk Kelly Williams advised that on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Lake Havasu City held a Primary Election for the purpose of nominating one (1) Mayor and three (3) Councilmembers for the November 8, 2022, General Election. She said on Friday, August 12, 2022, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors canvassed and declared the August 2, 2022, Primary Election returns official by Mohave County Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 2022-145. Ms. Williams read the official results of the Lake Havasu City Primary Election as follows: The total number of ballots cast in the Lake Havasu City Primary Election was 15,505. Total votes cast for Office of Mayor: Lake Havasu City Page 1 Printed on 8/24/2022 City Council Minutes - Final August 15, 2022 Sheehy, Cal 11,907 Lyons, Frankie (Write-In) 508 Write-In 309 Total 12,796 Total votes cast for Office of Councilmember: Braden, Morgan 5,284 Coke, Jeni 6,522 Curry, Mark 4,936 Diaz, David V. 5,601 Dolan, Jim 7,032 Lin, Michele 6,380 Trayer, Timothy (Write-In) 41 Write-In 149 Total 35,945 Ms. Williams noted that any candidate who receives at the Primary Election, a number of votes constituting a majority of all votes cast, shall be declared to be elected to the office for which that person is a candidate effective as of the date of the General Election. Mayor Sheehy opened the public hearing. There being no comments, he closed the public hearing. Councilmember Lane moved to adopt Resolution No. 22-3608 accepting the results of the August 2, 2022, Primary Election as presented, canvassed, and declared official by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors by their Resolution No. 2022-145, seconded by Councilmember Moses, and carried by the following vote: Aye: 7 - Mayor Sheehy, Councilmember Campbell, Councilmember Lane, Councilmember Lin, Councilmember Moses, Councilmember Coke and Vice Mayor Dolan Ms. Williams said based on the certification of the Official Canvass of the August 2, 2022, Lake Havasu City Primary Election results, it is found, determined, and declared of record that Cal Sheehy was elected to the Office of Mayor in and for Lake Havasu City and are hereby issued a Certificate of Election. Ms. Williams said based on the certification of the Official Canvass of the August 2, 2022, Lake Havasu City Primary Election results, it is found, determined, and declared of record that Jeni Coke, Jim Dolan, and Michele Lin were elected to the Office of Councilmember in and for Lake Havasu City and are hereby issued a Certificate of Election. Lake Havasu City Page 2 Printed on 8/24/2022 City Council Minutes - Final August 15, 2022 Ms. Williams said based on the certification of the Official Canvass of the August 2, 2022, Lake Havasu City Primary Election results, it is found, determined, and declared of record that all seats were filled in the Primary Election and that a General Election will not be held on November 8, 2022. She added that all successful candidates in the Primary Election will take office on November 22, 2022. 5. ADJOURN Upon motion by Councilmember Lane, and seconded, the meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m. CERTIFICATION I hereby certify that the foregoing is a full and true copy of the Special Meeting Minutes of the Lake Havasu City Council held on the 15th day of August, 2022.
