APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE AUGUST 25, 2008 The meeting was called to order at 9:44 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present –Mayor Tolomei, Trustees Branding, Callahan, Johnson, McAvoy, and Poynton. Excused - Trustee Taylor. Also present –Administrator Vitas, Village Attorney Mueller, Finance Director Zochowski, Deputy Police Chief Finlon, Fire Chief Mastandrea, Park and Recreation Director Perkins, Public Works Director/Engineer Heyden, and Building and Zoning Director Peterson. APPROVAL OF JULY 14, 2008 MINUTES: MOTION made by Trustee McAvoy, seconded by Trustee Poynton, to approve the minutes of the July 14, 2008 Committee of the Whole as submitted. Voice vote, all in favor. MOTION CARRIED. STB HEARINGS ON CN ACQUISITION – AUGUST 26, 2008 AT CROWNE PLAZA, MUNDELEIN, AND AUGUST 27, 2008 AT BARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL An update on the organized opposition to the proposed purchase of the EJ&E Railroad by the Canadian National Railroad was provided. The Village printed a Special Edition of Newsline dealing solely with that issue. The Surface Transportation Board (STB) will hold public meetings on August 26 and 27. It is essential that letters be sent to the STB up until the deadline of September 30, 2008, and residents attend the meetings and register to speak at the hearings. Village Administrator Vitas said School District 95 sent an alert on their web site about the upcoming meetings and provided information regarding the proposed acquisition. RESOLUTION APPOINTING NANCY PANKIW, HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER, AS AUTHORIZED AGENT FOR ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT FUND (IMRF) MOTION was made by Trustee Callahan, seconded by Trustee Poynton, to recommend the Board of Trustees approve a resolution appointing Nancy Pankiw, Human Resources Manager, as authorized agent for Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).
