APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH TREE COMMISSION 505 Telser Road, Lake Zurich April 3, 2012 6:30 PM A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairman Garrison at 6:30 PM B. ROLL CALL-Present were Jim Mihelic, Judi Thode, Mary Kozub, Toni Rey, Scott Garrison and Village Liaison Shawn Walkington. C. PUBLIC COMMENT- None D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Commissioner Rey was not listed as present at last meeting and would need to be changed to present. Also Commissioner Rey was listed as Chairmen Rey which should be changed to Commissioner. Commissioner Rey motioned to approve minutes with the corrections to the March 12, 2012 meeting minutes. Commissioner Kozub seconded. Voice vote, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED. E. OLD BUSINESS- Commissioner Kozub asked if anything happened with the Maple tree by Manuel’s House. No one had heard anything about it yet. Chairman Garrison asked if there were any updates on Emerald Ash borer. Liaison Walkington mentioned that the village received a grant to replace trees that are being removed due to EAB. F. ARBOR DAY- Commission discussed the activities for the day and what vendors would be showing up for the event. May Whitney School have a landscape company that will donate and plant a tree. Their ceremony will be on April 18. G. TREE PRESERVATION –Chairman Garrison talked with Building and Zoning Director Dan Peterson. Director Peterson mentioned that initial inspections for developers start with Engineering and that we should be talking with Engineering director Hayden. Commissioner Kozub does not believe its are responsibility to make sure that ordinance’s are up to date. Commissioner Mihelic wondered what the actual Sterling Codifiers are paid to do. Liaison Walkington will try to find out about the committee to update ordinance and what the status is. H. NEW BUSINESS- Chairman Garrison asked if there was anything more said about contract trimming. Liaison Walkington responded that contractor was informed of the poor quality of trimming. Chairmen Garrison also said that he had replied to Steve Macygin about the links he was unable to add to website. So far he has not received a response. K. ADJOURNMENT – MOTION was made by Chairman Garrison, seconded by Commissioner Thode to adjourn the meeting. Voice votes, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED Meeting adjourned at 9 PM.
