O. Tree Commission Agendas/

APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH TREE COMMISSION December 5, 2023 6:30 PM A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairman Garrison at 6:30 PM B. ROLL CALL-Present were Mary Kozub, Matt Spiekhout, Tony Harper, Scott Garrison and Village Liaison Shawn Walkington. Absent Kevin Scheiwiller C. PUBLIC COMMENT- None D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES ~ Motion made to accept minutes from October 3 by Commissioner Kozub, second by Commissioner Harper. All were in favor E. COMMISSIONERS REPORTS- Commissioner Harper discussed his latest Dripline article. He asked the Commission to recommend other tree species to put in future articles. Commissioner Kozub spoke about events being put on by Ancient Oaks Foundation. Chainnan Garrison shared a newspaper article about Waukegan board recognizing the importance oftree canopy. F. DROUGHT and FOREST FIRES— Fire Chief Pilgard attended the meeting and discussed the Fire Departments role in forest and grassland fires. Commission discussed maintenance of natural areas like trimming and natural bums. Tree Commission also was shown the Fire Departments new brush truck that is used to control these fires. G. POWER LINE TREE TRIMMING- Chairman Garrison put together list of trees that should only be trimmed during dormant season. The list will be put together to add to Ordinance. H. ADJOURNMENT — Motion was made by Commissioner Speikhout, seconded by Commissioner Harper adjoum the meeting. Voice votes, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM.
