Borough of Lansdale Public Safety Committee Minutes June 5, 2024 6:30 pm 1 Vine Street Suite 201 Lansdale, PA 19446 Attendees: See attached. The meeting was called to order at 6:31 pm I. Old Business: A. A motion was made to approve the minutes for the May 1, 2024, PSC meeting. B. The chief advised the committee that the traffic study data collection period has been completed and turned over to the engineering firm for analysis. A draft report is expected by fall. C. Alexis Moyer, the LPD’s MH Co-Responder advised the committee that she had 150 additional contacts since Q1 and that she has completed de-escalation training for St Joh’s Church and members of the LPD. II. New Business A. The chief presented an application for a handicap parking permit request for 619 W. Mt Vernon Street for the committee to review. Upon review the committee determined there was sufficient off-street parking and denied the application request. Public Comment: None Vote: None III. Fairmount FD Report: See attached. IV. Open Public Comment. Dara Rudolph, from Oakland Ave related to the committee her concerns for speeding on Oakland Ave. and requested the results of the previously completed speed study. Chief Trail advised he would provide a copy of the speed study at the next committee meeting. Jessica Smith of Oakland Ave. also advised the committee of her concerns regarding speeding cars on Oakland Ave. and the use of the street as a cut through to avoid Main Street during rush hour. Anne Scheuring asked the chief what can be done at crosswalks to ensure pedestrian safety after a pedestrian was struck crossing the street at the intersection of Main and Broad. The chief advised the borough is in the process of installing pedestrian lead indicators at intersections around town to give walkers a head start into the intersection prior to vehicular traffic getting the green light. Rachel Gill advised the chief that the pedestrian walk button at Main and Broad is not working. The chief advised he would alert public works of the problem.
