CITY OF LATHRUP VILLAGE CITY COUNCIL STUDY SESSION MEETING MINUTES OCTOBER 7, 2019 MINUTES OF THE STUDY SESSION MEETING OF THE CITY OF LATHRUP VILLAGE HELD ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2019 IN THE CITY COUNCIL CONFERENCE ROOM IN THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING 27400 SOUTHFIELD ROAD, LATHRUP VILLAGE, MICHIGAN. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor Garrett and Roll Call was taken. Present: Mayor Mykale Garrett and Mayor Pro Tem Kantor Council members Ian Ferguson and Saleem Siddiqi Absent: Council member Donna Stallings Also Present: City Administrator, Dr. Sheryl L. Mitchell, City Attorney, Scott Baker, Community and Economic Development Manager, Susie Stec and City Clerk, Yvette Talley Purpose of meeting to discuss Agenda items B. Discussion Items: A. Discussion – Southfield Public Schools – Study Session October 22 Ian Ferguson gave an overview – will invite the Southfield Public Schools to November 4, 2019 Study Session. B. Discussion – Census 2020 Mayor Pro Tem Kantor gave an overview of Census 2020. Rochester Hills has a successful census program where they placed signs on every street corner to remind residents to take part in the census. The city should look into a similar program. Susie Stec said there are several residents willing to assist and she will coordinate city organizations to assist with census 2020. C. Discussion – MML Conference/ Topics: Recycling Recreation Asset Management, etc. Mayor Pro Tem Kantor said, Rochester Hills has a recycle program where a chip is placed on the recycle bin. Points are rewarded to the city for participating in the recycle program and money raised will go back to the city to use for example, children’s garden, dog park, park benches etc. Council member Siddiqi will do more research to find out more about this program. MML Session: October 24th – 4:00 p.m. -5:45 p.m. – Taubman Center at LTU D. Discussion – General Items Mayor Pro Tem Kantor gave updates on the following: Street Infrastructure millage, sign on front of city hall to read: City of Lathrup Village sign, Annie Lathrup School as a public service hub. Mayor Garrett said to appoint, Mary Manoogian Calhoun to the marijuana committee, monitor Villagers, Coral Gables and Lathrup Blvd. property update, Morningside and Red River is over-grown, sidewalk program will start Spring next year with the commercial corridor, Southfield/Beverly Hills meeting is in the planning stages. 1 Dr. Mitchell reported- See Click fix- evaluation done by staff members looked at different platforms and a final decision will be made soon. C. Mayor and Council comments None D. Public Comments None Motion by Mayor Pro tem Kantor, seconded by Council member Ferguson to adjourn this meeting. Motion carried. E.
