In accordance with Emergency Orders issued by local officials, and State of Michigan legislation, which allows for electronic meetings of
public bodies, notice is hereby given that the City of Lathrup’s City Council will be meeting electronically using www.Zoom.us for
videoconference and public access.
1. Call to Order (in accordance with PA 254 of 2020, the members should identify their physical location by stating the county,
city, township, or village and state from which he or she is attending the meeting remotely).
Meeting called to order by Yvette Talley, City Clerk at 6:49 p.m.
2. Roll Call
Present: Scott Baker, City Attorney, Dawn Medley, City Council Member, Yvette Talley, City Clerk
Scott Baker located in Lathrup Village, MI – Oakland County, Dawn Medley, located in Stony Brook,
NY-Suffolk County. Yvette Talley, located in McKinney, TX-Collin County.
Others: Present: Mayor Pro Tem Kantor and Dr. Sheryl Mitchell Theriot, City Administrator
3. Approval of Agenda
Motion by Commissioner Baker, seconded by Commissioner Medley to approve the Agenda.
Ayes: Baker, Medley, Talley
No: None
Motion carried.
4. Action Requests - For Consideration / Approval
A. REVIEW & DETERMINATION OF CANDIDATE SUBMISSIONS FOR THE NOVEMBER 2, 2021
GENERAL ELECTION
Motion by Commissioner Baker, seconded by Commissioner Medley to table this item until we
receive written legal opinion from outside counsel evaluating the Nomination Petitions and the
Affidavit of Identity forms.

5. Public Comment
Jason Hammond – 27590 California Dr. SE -asked how was the 3rd party legal counsel selected?
Commissioner Baker stated, Butzel Long who are election law experts and they are available to review
this matter. City Council did not specify which firm to use, they requested that an outside firm is used.
Marvin Moore – 28050 Red River Dr.- asked when will the potential candidates be notified if they are
being eliminated or not. Commissioner Baker stated as soon as the written opinion letter is received,
another Election Commission Meeting will be held and determination will be made by the Election
Commissioners which candidates will move on and remain on the ballot and those who will be
disqualified. Deadline to file as a write-in candidate is October 22, 2021 before 4:00 p.m. in the City
Clerk’s office the Declaration of Intent form. The forms are available in the City Clerk’s office during
business hours 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. The form has to be notarized but if you have the
form notarized in the Clerk’s office there is a $10.00 fee.

Motion by Commissioner Baker, seconded by Council member Medley to adjourn this meeting.
