COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG
October 8, 2015
The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session. The following members were present:
Council Member Fox, Mayor Keith Durham, Council Member Sevier, Council Member Williams and
Council Member Moore.
With a quorum present the meeting was called to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion to approve the minutes of the September 24, 2015 Council Meeting was made by Council
Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Durham announced the closing of city offices on October 12 for Columbus Day; and
asked the Council to set a work session for next week to discuss some of the things currently on
the agenda.
The Council agreed to meet on Tuesday, October 13 at 9 a.m. for a work session.
LUS Financials for August 2015 have been received.
City Administrator, Chris Shaffer thanked all City Departments, County Volunteer Fire
Departments, especially Cross Roads and New Prospect and Lawrence County Sheriff
Department and LUS for assistance with the building collapse on the square this past week.
ORDINANCE NUMBER 1165
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LAWRENCEBURG TO REGULATE AND PROHIBIT THE PARKING OF MOTOR
VEHICLES AND OTHER VEHICLES ON SPRINGER DRIVE FROM LAFAYETTE STREET TO
EAST GAINES STREET – First Reading
Ordinance Number 1165 was postponed for the work session on October 13.
ORDINANCE NO. 1166
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.1116 ENTITLED BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS
OF REVENUE AND EXPENDITURES FOR THE 2015-2016 FISCAL YEAR FOR THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE. – First Reading
Motion to approve on first reading was made by Council Member Moore with a second by Council
Member Fox. Motion passed unanimously.
RESOLUTION(S)
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT AS SURPLUS TO BE SOLD AT AUCTION ON THE WEB
Motion to approve was mad By Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Moore.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO AUTHORIZE THE LAWRENCEBURG POLICE
DEPARTMENT TO ENTER INTO A REIMBURSEMENT GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE
GOVERNOR’S HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE IN THE AMOUNT OF UP TO ($5,000) FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT AS SURPLUS TO BE USED TOWARD NEW WEAPONS AND RELATED
EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Resolution concerning surplus weapons was postponed for the work session on October 13.
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO AUTHORIZE EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER
(EMR) SUPPLEMENT PAY FOR TWO CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG FIREFIGHTERS
Resolution for EMR supplement pay was postponed for the work session on October 13.
With no further business to come before the board motion was made by Council Member Moore to
adjourn, with a second by Council Member Fox. Motion passed.
