COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG April 12, 2018 The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session. The following members were present: Council Member Fox, Council Member Sevier, Council Member Williams, Council Member Moore and Mayor Durham. With a quorum present the meeting was called to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion to approve the minutes of the March 22, 2018 Council Meeting was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously. Joan Childress addressed the Council concerning the donation of funds to the Library at Ingram Sowell School. She explained that the books in the library are state mandated to represent class room subjects such as history, geography and engineering. ORDINANCE NUMBER 1225 AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE AND ABANDON AN UNDEVELOPED SECTION OF 8 th STREET; RETENTION OF UTILITY EASEMENTS; REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; EFFECTIVE DATE – First Reading Motion to approve on first reading was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. ORDINANCE NO. 1226 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.1207 ENTITLED BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS OF REVENUE AND EXPENDITURES FOR THE 2017-2018 FISCAL YEAR FOR THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE FIRE DEPARTMENT. – First Reading Motion to approve on first reading was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously. A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO CALL FOR THE ELECTION OF MAYOR, COUNCIL MEMBER SEAT 1, AND COUNCIL MEMBER SEAT 2, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PRIVATE CHAPTER NO. 99, OF THE PRIVATE ACTS OF 2008. Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Moore. Motion passed unanimously. A RESOLUTION FOR BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TO RESCIND RESOLUTION 2008-10-4A AND RESOLUTION 2011-8-9B ENTITLED “CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG PURCHASING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES” AND TO CREATE A NEW PURCHASING POLICY. Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore with a second by Council Member Sevier. Upon discussion Council Member fox made a motion to table the resolution with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed the resolution has been tabled. A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO ENTER INTO A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH DARRELL VALENTINE FOR OCCUPANCY OF A LOT LOCATED AT 36 PUBLIC SQUARE TO BE USED FOR PARKING The above resolution was deferred. A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO AUTHORIZE THE LAWRENCEBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR A RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION (SAFER) GRANT THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR FIFTEEN VOLUNTEERS FOR A PERIOD OF FOUR YEARS AT NO COST TO CITY Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Moore. Motion passed unanimously. A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ACQUIRED THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE AS SURPLUS TO DISPOSED OF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG PURCHASING POLICY Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Sevier Motion passed unanimously With no further business to come before the board motion to adjourn was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier.
