COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG
May 14, 2020
The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session. The meeting was held by teleconference.
The following members were present: Council Member Fox, Mayor Lay, Council Member Robin
Williams, Council Member Sevier and Council Member Moore.
With a quorum present the meeting was called to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion to approve the minutes of the April 23, 2020 Council Meeting was made by Council Member
Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously.
City Administrator, Chris Shaffer, announced sidewalk project has started.
LUS March, 2020 Financials are accepted
Public Hearing on Ordinance 1286 was opened and with no one wishing to address the Council
concerning Ordinance 1286, the Public Hearing was closed.

ORDINANCE NO. 1286
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NUMBER 789 ENTITLED THE “ZONING
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE” – First Reading Richard and
Sue Grubbs – West side of Remke Drive – Planning sends with positive recommendation. Second
Reading
Motion to approve on second reading was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council
Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously.
ORDINANCE NUMBER 1287
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 759 ENTITLED, “AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE
FOR A MUNICIPAL PLANNING COMMISSION FOR LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE AND
TO REPEAL ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH” AND TO AMEND THE
LAWRENCEBURG MUNICIPAL - CODE, TITLE 14 ZONING AND LAND USE CONTROL;
CHAPTER 1. REGIONAL MUNICIPAL PLANNING COMMISSION; SECTION14-101.
MEMBERSHIP; SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR CERTAIN CHANGES IN THE MEMBERSHIP OF
SAID MUNICIPAL PLANNING COMMISSION AND THE TERMS OF OFFICE THEREOF –
Second and Final Reading
Motion to approve on second reading was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by
Council Member Moore.
Motion passed unanimously.
RESOLUTION(S)
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT AS SURPLUS
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Williams.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO ALLOW THE LAWRENCEBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT
TO APPLY FOR A GRANT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO PURCHASE BULLET
PROOF VEST FOR POLICE OFFICERS
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Sevier.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH THE STATE OF
TENNESSEE FOR THE SWEEPING OF STATE STREETS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF
LAWRENCEBURG AND OTHER STREET AND/OR RIGHT OF WAY MAINTENANCE
AGREEMENTS.
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion
passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG TO REQUEST BIDS
FOR APPROXIMATELY 1,700 FEET OF GALVANIZED FENCING FOR LAWRENCE COUNTY
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL FIELD PERIMETER
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Fox.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO DECLARE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE SANITATION
DEPARTMENT AS SURPLUS TO DISPOSED OF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG PURCHASING POLICY – Garbage Trucks
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Fox, with a second by Council Member Williams.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO ALLOW THE LAWRENCEBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT
TO APPLY FOR A GRANT WITH THE PETCO FOUNDATION TO BE APPLIED TO THE
ANIMAL SHELTER
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member Fox.
Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL TO ALLOW THE
LAWRENCEBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY TO THE ASSISTANCE TO
FIREFIGHTERS GRANT FOR BIOHAZARD PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT IN
RESPONSE TO COVID-19 OR OTHER RELATED EMERGENCIES
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Williams.
Motion passed unanimously.
With no further business to come before the board motion to adjourn was made by Council Member
Moore, with a second by Council Member Fox. Motion passed.
