Minutes Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee DATE: Tuesday, January 18, 2022 6:00 p.m. EST Via Zoom In attendance: 1. Chairwoman Theresa Bailey 2. Vice-Chair Joyce Moore 3. Deidra Williams Also in attendance were Mayor David Still, Commissioner Marlene Fosque, Council Members Mayor Pro Tem Glenn Martin, and Marlene Taylor-Crawford, Mark Leblanc-Project Manager, Angela Parham, Cammie Fulmer-Interpretive Resources Project Coordinator, Paula Foil-Executive Assistant, Kyle Parker-IT, Jason DiFranco-Director of Development and Community Partnership, Gwinnett Library Foundation, and members of the Community. Opening Prayer: Ms. Taylor Introduction of HRLPC’s Newest Committee Member Chairwoman Bailey acknowledged former committee member, now Councilwoman Marlene Taylor- Crawford and thanked her for her service. Chairwoman Bailey introduced newest member, Deidra Williams. Chairwoman Bailey stated that Ms. Williams is a life-long resident of Gwinnett County and has deep family ties to Hooper-Renwick. Chairwoman Bailey asked Ms. Williams to briefly introduce herself. Ms. Williams complied and gave an excellent overview of her life’s journey and the path that brought her to the Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee. Quorum Intake/Roll call: Roll taken, and Quorum obtained by Vice-Chair Moore Norms: presented by Dr. Daniel Minutes from November 16, 2021, Minutes were reviewed and approved as submitted. Old Business Project Status Updates Minutes Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee  Mr. LeBlanc reported that Cooper & Company was selected as the contractors for the library construction. He also reported that Kohler & Company was signed on as the exhibit designers.  Ms. Fulmer reported that the County has obtained storage space for the purpose of storing artifacts donated to the Hooper-Renwick Library. She also gave a brief update of the status of the oral histories delivered by New South. She reported that the idea is to have those oral histories incorporated into the conceptual design of the library. She responded to questions raised by the Committee whether they would have input into the design. Ms. Fulmer affirmed that the Committee would have input into the design of the library displays.  Update on Gathering of Artifacts Vice-Chair Moore stated that she has not received or been advised of any additional artifacts since November 2021. She stated that Ms. Fulmer sent an email to Committee members attaching a complete list, to date, containing the history as well as photos of some of the donated artifacts. Vice-Chair continued to urge Committee members to appeal to their family, friends, alumni, and communities for artifacts. New Business – Allow Me to Introduce Myself New series implementation whereby each member of HRLPC will give a brief synopsis of their connection to Hooper-Renwick.  Deidra introduced herself this time to acknowledge her family which included her parents and grandmother who all attended Hooper-Renwick. Closing prayer - Rev. Dr. Dunnigan Final Adjournment - Chairwoman Bailey adjourned the meeting at 6:59pm EST.
