Minutes Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee DATE: Tuesday, February 15, 2022 6:00 p.m. EST Via Zoom In attendance: 1. Chairwoman Theresa Bailey 2. Vice-Chair Joyce Moore, Presiding 3. Deidra Williams Also in attendance were City Manager, Chuck Warbington; Council Members Mayor Pro Tem Glenn Martin, Victoria Jones, and Marlene Taylor-Crawford; Mark Leblanc, Project Manager; Cammie Fulmer, Interpretive Resources Project Coordinator; Paula Foil, Executive Assistant; Kyle Parker, IT Director; Jason DiFranco, Director of Development and Community Partnership, Gwinnett Library Foundation; and members of the Community. Opening Prayer: Ms. Taylor Meeting Called to Order by Vice-Chair Moore Quorum Intake/Roll call: Roll taken, and Quorum obtained by Vice-Chair Moore Norms: presented by Dr. Daniel Minutes from January 18, 2022 were presented and approved as submitted by Secretary Brown. Old Business Project Status Updates  Mr. LeBlanc reiterated that Cooper & Company was selected as the contractors for the library construction and that Kohler & Company was signed on as the exhibit designers. He gave a detailed account of what has taken place so far. He stated that hopefully, within a couple of months, CAS will start producing the plans for the design and will meet with the Committee.  Ms. Fulmer reported that the County has obtained storage space for the purpose of storing artifacts donated to the Hooper-Renwick Library. She also gave a brief update of the status of the oral histories delivered by New South. She reported that the idea is to have those oral Minutes Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee histories incorporated into the conceptual design of the library. She asked that Committee Members get any edits back to her before the March meeting. She also advised that additional oral histories could be gathered if Committee members would send her the names and contact information for former students or other community members who wanted to participate. She indicated that there could be six 45-minute time slots available during the first week in March. In addition, she reported that Kohler & Company will be presenting initial mark-ups of display designs which she will share in the April meeting. Ms. Fulmer also responded to questions raised by the Committee related to whether they would have input into the library design. She affirmed that the Committee would have input into the design of the library displays.  Update on Gathering of Artifacts Vice-Chair Moore stated that she has not received or been advised of any additional artifacts since November 2021. She stated that Ms. Fulmer sent an email to Committee members attaching a complete list, to date, containing the history as well as photos of some of the donated artifacts. Vice-Chair continued to urge Committee members to appeal to their family, friends, alumni, and communities for artifacts. New Business  There was no new business to discuss. However, Vice-Chair Moore informed the Committee that Committee Member Neal had prepared her annual Black History Display at the Gwinnett Justice Administration Center (GJAC). She encouraged all to visit. Councilwoman Taylor- Crawford informed the Committee that Ms. Neal had also prepared a display at the old County Courthouse as well. Closing prayer - Dr. Daniel Final Adjournment – Co-Chairwoman Moore adjourned the meeting at 6:59pm EST.
