Coni Brown Also in attendance were Commissioner Marlene Fosque, Councilwoman Marlene Taylor-Crawford, Mark Leblanc Project Manager, Cammie Fulmer Interpretive Resources Project Coordinator, Angela Parham, GJAC, Paula Foil Executive Assistant, Kyle Parker-IT, Jason DiFranco Director of Development and Community Partnership, Gwinnett Library Foundation, and members of the Community. Opening Prayer: Pastor Dunnigan Meeting Called to Order by Chair Bailey Quorum Intake/Roll call: Roll taken and Quorum obtained by Vice-Chair Moore Norms: presented by Dr. Daniel Minutes from February 15, 2022 were approved as submitted Chair Bailey Old Business Project Status Updates  Mr. LeBlanc presented a preliminary design plan from Cass Architect. The design showed the first and second floor of the Hooper-Renwick Library and Museum. He detailed the location of the original 12 rooms as well as pointing out the historical windows and the actual space for the exhibits. He confirmed that the original wooden rafters would be preserved and displayed. He pointed out the additions on the back side of the building facing what was once named Green Street. He indicated that those rooms would be used for special uses of the library, i.e. sewing classes and private tutoring, etc. He shared the new two floor addition which will include artifacts and exhibits collected by the Committee. He stated that the preserved gymnasium floor  would be displayed here in addition, he stated that this area would also house a community room that seats 100+ and includes a kitchenette.  Ms. Fulmer reported that the County Communications Department agreed to record a group oral history. She stated that they had agreed to test the clarity and effectiveness of recording a group oral history. Ms. Fulmer stated that she hoped to have a draft of the exhibit design at the next meeting. She also stated that it is a draft Storyboard design that she will share at the next meeting. She indicated that there will be multiple iterations that she will share over the several months. She also shared information on the opening of “For All the World to See” which is a traveling exhibit of the history of the Civil Rights movement. The exhibit will be on display from April 6, 2022 – May 25, 2022. A reception is scheduled for April 15, 2022. The location is the Environmental and Heritage Center, 2020 Clean Water Drive, Buford, Georgia 30519.  Ms. Fulmer reported that the County has obtained storage space for the purpose of storing artifacts donated to the Hooper-Renwick Library. She also gave a brief update of the status of the oral histories delivered by New South. She reported that the idea is to have those oral histories incorporated into the conceptual design of the library.  Update on Gathering of Artifacts Vice-Chair Moore stated that she has not received or been advised of any additional artifacts since November 2021. She stated that Ms. Fulmer sent an email to Committee members attaching a complete list, to date, containing the history as well as photos of some of the donated artifacts. Vice-Chair continued to urge Committee members to appeal to their family, friends, alumni, and communities for artifacts. New Business  There was no new business to discuss. However, Vice-Chair Moore informed the Committee that Committee Member Neal had prepared her annual Black History Display at the Gwinnett Justice Administration Center (GJAC). She encouraged all to visit. Councilwoman Taylor- Crawford informed the Committee that Ms. Neal had also prepared a display at the old County Courthouse as well.
