5. Project Status Update – Mr. Mark LeBlanc, Project Manager
Mr. Mark LeBlanc, Gwinnett County Project Manager on the Hooper-Renwick Themed
Library Project gave his update to the Committee. Mark said the site plan will include
underground utilities. They are working on construction documents and the design
development. He is hoping Chad Smith with CAS, the architect for the project, will be able
to attend in July with a site plan and renderings.
6. Project Status Update - Ms. Cammie Fulmer, IRPC
Cammie Fulmer, Gwinnett County Coordinator for the Hooper-Renwick Themed Library
exhibits gave her update to the Committee. Cammie thanked everyone for their input on
the Healy Kohler's exhibit outline. She passed the information on to the exhibit consultants
so they could be incorporated into their design planning. The design of the exhibits is in
process and they have a weekly meeting to discuss the progress. In July or August she is
hoping there may be another Healy Kohler update.
We are lacking artifacts for before Hooper-Renwick and after Hooper-Renwick. She is also
looking for more oral histories. They have new equipment that will make the process much
faster. She is happy to email information to anyone that may be interested. An email
introduction from a Committee member might encourage someone to participate. Oral
histories will continue to be gathered after the exhibit opens. If a group wants to be
recorded together, the maximum number would be 3-4 people at one time.
7. Comments - Mr. Chuck Warbington, City Manager
Chuck Warbington, City Manager for the City of Lawrenceville gave his update to the
Committee.
They have started the design of the Neal Blvd. Streetscape will include sidewalks, parking,
and all overhead electric wiring will be placed underground.
We are currently working on the bids for the demolition of the Mt. Calvary United
Methodist Church. We will be saving six of the stained glass windows. The altar at the
front of the church will also be removed. The special items selected for removal will be
removed first. We are looking at it beginning in about 60-90 days.
Chuck asked Chairman Bailey which photos she wants of the building before
demolition. Council Member Glenn Martin mentioned that he has several photos of the
building and they tell the story of the church.
8. Artifacts – Ms. Joyce Moore, Co-Chair
Co-Chair Moore updated the Committee on the artifacts. She mentioned that after Hooper-
Renwick students integrated they graduated from other schools.
After some discussion, it was decided that artifacts are due no later than August 16th, but
they are requested sooner if possible. Transitioned students need to be included.

9. “For All the World to See!” remarks – Ms. Gwen Brown Taylor, Committee Member
Committee Member Brown gave her remarks concerning "For All the World to See!"
exhibit. She spoke very highly of the exhibit and the way it made her feel. She believes the
Hooper-Renwick Themed Library is also for all the world to see, but it will be a stationary
exhibit instead of a traveling one.
10. Other Comments or Updates
Commissioner Marlene Fosque thanked everyone for all they are doing currently and all
they have done up until this point. She mentioned there are many stories to tell and it is so
fascinating to hear the stories. Commissioner Fosque mentioned she has three words for
the year that she is focusing on: empathy, forgiveness, and grace. She said the members of
the Committee are examples of these words in action.
Committee Member Brown asked that her name be removed from the signature line of the
minutes. It was decided that for the time being the second signature on the minutes would
be Co-Chair Moore.
Final Adjournment
11. Closing Remarks – Chairwoman Theresa Bailey
Chairman Bailey reminded the Committee that the mascot of Hooper-Renwick was the
hornet. Hornets are similar to bumblebees. She encouraged the Committee members to
continue to work hard like bumblebees.
12. Closing Prayer – Dr. John Maxey, Committee Member
The closing prayer was led by Dr. Maxey.
