LAWRENCEVILLE ARTS COMMISSION SPECIAL CALL MINUTES Monday, November 21, 2022 Third Floor GwMA Conference Room 1:00 PM 70 S. Clayton St, GA 30046 Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 1:05 PM, recognizing a quorum. Approval of Agenda Motion to approve the agenda was made by Commission Member Chitwood, Seconded by Commission Member Stone-Collins. Voting Yea: Commission Member Chitwood, Commission Member Stone-Collins, Commission Member Sanders, Commission Member Alhabashi General Discussion 1. GA Mural Trail Discussion Jasmine Billings presented the latest design, and shared that the artist came out and measured the wall to be able to provide the sizing information as well as inspect the wall, bricks, etc. and indicates that the bricks were painted really well. The design that is presented is a digital graphic and Jasmine provided an update on some of the details of the presented design and what will or will not be included in the actual mural. Moving into pricing, Jasmine provided the details of the different sizes and the costs associated with those, which does not include lodging. The contract includes 200 feet of painted wall space, and the total wall is 652 square feet. The original contract also called for 14 nights of lodging, however, with increased size of the mural, the artist will require up to 20 days. Additional contract wording for the change in lodging will be presented at the December Arts Commission meeting for approval. In the design sizes presented, the width of the mural remains the same but the height will change. Budget wise, there is sufficient funds for the largest size, which will cost approximately $18,000, with additional funds required for lodging. The City will provide a lift  for the artist's use at no cost to the Arts Commission. The total cost for the project on the high side will be approximately $20-25,000, which includes lodging. The group discussed the cost, indicating that there was sufficient funds for the maximum expected cost. They felt that the mural should take up a majority of the wall, since anything smaller would look lost. They have the space, and the building owner is on board with the mural taking up a majority of the wall. Motion to present the top level priced mural and image to Council at the December Work Session meeting was made by Commission Member Alhabashi, Seconded by Commission Member Stone-Collins. Voting Yea: Commission Member Chitwood, Commission Member Stone-Collins, Commission Member Sanders, Commission Member Alhabashi Other Business There was no other business discussed. Citizen Comments Citizen Comments will be limited to two (2) minutes per person. The Arts Commission Members will not respond to comments. There were no citizen comments.
