RECAST ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES Wednesday, September 28, 2022 Third Floor GwMA Conference Room 6:00 PM 70 S. Clayton St, GA 30046 Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:25 PM, recognizing a quorum. Approval of Agenda Motion to approve the agenda was made by Caraballo, Seconded by Brown. Voting Yea: Jordan, Brown, Floyd-Bryant, Sanchez, Drane, Pino, Sledge, Martin, Warnsley, Washington, Caraballo, Hudson To participate in the Public Comment part of this agenda, you must register with the Advisory Board Secretary prior to the beginning of the meeting. Presentations will be limited to two (2) minutes per person and the Board will not respond to comments. Comment was offered by Josiah Vega, ReCAST Community Outreach & Engagement Specialist (serving through Impact46). He introduced himself to the group. Approval of Agenda Approve Prior Meeting Minutes Motion to approve prior meeting minutes from the August 24, 2022 meeting made by Martin, Seconded by Brown. Voting Yea: Jordan, Brown, Floyd-Bryant, Sanchez, Drane, Pino, Sledge, Martin, Warnsley, Washington, Caraballo, Hudson General Discussion Board Member Check-In There was as brief board member check-in, sharing personal updates. Georgia Center for Opportunity Update The Board was joined by Jace Brooks (Director) and Luisa Beeco (Program Manager), both of Better Work Gwinnett (BWG). Better Work Gwinnett is a program of the Georgia Center for Opportunity (GCO). GCO is a sub-recipient partner for ReCAST Lawrenceville. Luisa shared about the BWG program and services. BWG meets with candidates, provides resume help, organizes and hosts job fairs, and facilitates connections between employers and those who want a job, or who desire a better one. Luisa also shared about the ongoing ReCAST collaboration, describing the referrals between Impact46 and GCO. (Note: Impact46 is also a sub-recipient partner of ReCAST Lawrenceville.) The Board offered feedback regarding how GCO follows up with clients; specifically, Member C. Caraballo advised that GCO might ask for a secondary contact to help reach clients who are sometimes more difficult to reach. BWG also reported that the ReCAST referral process is being strengthened; partner organizations are becoming acclimated to the software; clients/participants are also learning how to access it and how to receive a referral. BWG shared some of the local outreach they are planning to make in the community in the upcoming days. Program Manager Update Program Manager, M. Thorne, shared updates from the September monthly milestones report. In addition, he shared a slide presentation that included ReCAST milestones from Year 1, as well as anticipated ReCAST commitments for Year 2. Advisory Board Schedule Discussion Program Manager, M. Thorne, presented a proposed Advisory Board Schedule for 2023. He asked that members review the proposal and return to the next meeting with feedback. Other Business There was no other business.
