RECAST ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES Wednesday, September 27, 2023 Third Floor GwMA Conference Room 6:00 PM 70 S. Clayton St, GA 30046 Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:06 PM, recognizing a quorum. Approval of Agenda Motion to approve the amended agenda was made by Brown, Seconded by Washington. Voting Yea: Jordan, Brown, Floyd-Bryant, Drane, Martin, Warnsley, Washington Citizen Comments To participate in the Public Comments part of this agenda, you must register with the Advisory Board Secretary prior to the beginning of the meeting. Presentations will be limited to two (2) minutes per person and the Board will not respond to comments. No citizen comments were offered. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes Approve Prior Meeting Minutes Motion to approve the prior meeting minutes was made by Jordan, Seconded by Martin. Voting Yea: Jordan, Brown, Floyd-Bryant, Drane, Martin, Warnsley, Washington General Discussion Board Member Check-In Members shared personal updates. ReCAST Data Presentation & Update Program Manager, Marcus Thorne, shared ReCAST updates regarding ● The Community Connections Workshops ○ They are going well. Westbridge Solutions has done a great job. Attendance has been a challenge. PM has worked to address attendance challenges and will continue to do so when we conduct these workshops in Year 3. ● ReCAST Sustainability ○ Key question: What will remain when the grant cycle ends in 2026? Members offered suggestions including ■ Seeking additional funding sources ■ Discovering the trust value and cost of the program. What does the City of Lawrenceville value most about the program? What are the costs associated with producing what is most valued? ■ Agreeing to take up this question again in the future ● Phoenix Encouragement Summit – a youth leadership and connection event hosted by Phoenix High School. The event will focus on youth/police relations, work readiness, and behavioral health and will occur 10/26 at the school. ● Pending ReCAST Advisory Board vacancies ○ PM sought advice and feedback from the board regarding the types of networks and expertise desired for those filling pending board vacancies. ● A request for feedback evaluating the Program Manager ● ReCAST Community Outreach ○ Several events were reported on and/or announced including ■ Discovery HS Concession Stand Outreach, 9/7 ■ Central Gwinnett Parent Night, 10/18 ■ Our continuing Community Connections workshops, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17 and 10/24 ■ Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belong Training (Embrace Training) continuing in 2023 and 2024 Other Business No additional business was discussed.
