CITY OF LIBERTY LAKE Community Engagement Commission Minutes January 18th, 2023 - 6:00 PM CALL TO ORDER: The meeting of the Community Engagement Commission was called to order on January 18th, 2023, at 6 p.m. ROLL CALL: Position 1: Robin Bekkedahl Present Position 7: Vacant Position 2: Bill Norman Present Position 8: Vacant Position 3: Jennifer Kosaka Excused Position 9: Mark Saba Present Position 4: Summer Darrow Present Communications Specialist David Goehner Position 5: Vacant Administrative Assistant Tait Hunter Position 6: Aaron Asmus Present APPROVALS: Commissioner Asmus motioned for the December meeting minutes to be approved. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Norman. The motion carried unanimously. CITIZEN COMMENTS: No comments were made at this meeting. GENERAL DISCUSSION: 2023 Opportunities & Planning The commission began discussion on the events and opportunities for engagement in 2023. Events discussed in- cluded the Rotary Memorial Breakfast, Barefoot and Library events tentatively slated for 2023. It was discussed to add links for events to the CEC calendar, intended to improve accessibility for commissioners and the public. It was discussed to keep track of website hits, keywords searched, etc. to better understand what the public is seek- ing when going to the website. Discussion will continue at the March meeting. CONTINUED DISCUSSION(S): A) Public Engagement Resource Update The workshop session of the February 7th Council meeting will cover discussion of possible public engage- ment resources that the commission has viewed. Commissioners are encouraged to attend to answer ques- tions and provide input for further understanding. The commissioners briefly discussed the services reviewed over the last several months, noting pros and cons and discussing accessibility for those outside the City. B) City Podcast The commission discussed ideas for the official name of the City podcast. David Goehner briefly discussed the proposed twice weekly schedule, noting Liberty Lake related trivia might be a good addition to keep listeners engaged. The commission continued brainstorming ideas. C) City Academy The City Academy is slated to begin sometime in April, and slated to wrap up sometime in June. Specifics will tentatively be provided at the February meeting. CONTINUED DISCUSSION(S): D) CEC Membership Update A new at-large member will be officially added during the February meeting. NEXT UPCOMING MEETING: The next meeting of the Community Engagement Commission will be February 15th, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, and with unanimous approval, the meeting adjourned at approximately 7:15 p.m.
