PARKS & ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
DECEMBER 5TH, 2018 - 4:00 PM
CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Laina Schutz called the meeting of the Parks and Arts Commission to order at 4:00 PM on
December 5th, 2018.

APPROVALS:
Commissioner Schutz moved to excuse Commissioner Frank, which was seconded by Commissioner Harris
and was approved unanimously.
The minutes from the November 7th meeting were moved for approval by Commissioner Schutz, seconded
by Commissioner Himebaugh. The minutes were approved unanimously.
STAFF REPORT:
Jennifer Camp presented updates for the potential goat statues and CFP Workshop. The workshop included
budget discussion for the commission. Jennifer also went over the priority list from the council.
Jennifer Camp also presented potential updates and changes to the commission’s ordinance, creating more
of a public art policy going forward.
Jennifer Camp presented the updated website forms on the Parks & Arts Commission page of the City
website.
The January meetings were moved tentatively to the 16th and the 30th, 2019.
NEW & UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
The commission was presented with the draft of the Parks & Arts brochure, which was unanimously
approved.
The Story Walk prototype presentation will be moved to the December 18th Council Meeting tentatively.
Commissioner Himebaugh moved to approve a budget of $4,000 towards the Story Walk, providing potential
extra funds to SVT for scholarship opportunities. The movement was seconded and approved unanimously.
PRESENTATIONS & ACTION ITEMS:
Sam Song presented to the commission his vision for a Winter Festival in the area in 2019 or 2020.
Lisa Key, Planning Director, presented the updated Street Tree Ordinance to the commission.
Future plans for the Pavillion Park Tree Lighting Event were discussed, including potential future funding
sources and potentially more lighting options.
The upcoming Youth Commission Winter Festival was discussed by the commission.
Commissioner Schutz brought to the commission that Liberty Creek will be creating a sensory project, and
that they are seeking assistance.
The commission unanimously approved a motion to obtain a quote for one goat mold, with the intention of
moving forward with purchase.
