PARKS & ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 6TH, 2019 - 4:00 PM
CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Laina Schutz called the meeting of the Parks and Arts Commission to order at 4:00 PM on
March 6th, 2019.

APPROVALS:
Chair Laina Schutz moved to approve the minutes from February 20th, 2019. Commissioner Sahlberg and
Commissioner Eylar moved to second. The motion was carried unanimously.
STAFF REPORT:
Jennifer Camp updated the commission regarding the potential for subsidizing the labor for the story walk
project.
Jennifer also updated the commission on the potential of obtaining utility box shells. There is a potential for
the boxes to be donated.
NEW & UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Lisa Key presented to the commission an update on the Tree Ordinance. Chair Laina Schutz moved to leave
the ordinance without comment or alteration from the commission. Commissioner Sahlberg moved to second
the motion, and it was carried unanimously.
Commissioner Frank gave a brief update regarding the strategic plan. Edits and changes will continue to be
made for now.
PRESENTATIONS & ACTION ITEMS:
AnnElise Anderson presented the program details of RecTennis to the commission.
PRESENTATIONS & ACTION ITEMS CONTINUED:
Jennifer Camp opened discussion regarding the City’s Recreation Policy. With the growing popularity of the
open space/ sports court space within the City, the commission discussed how to handle recreation programs
coming into the City more.
The commission discussed the future of the Pavillion Park mural. Commissioner Frank opened discussion on
what the mural should look like, and the commission briefly discussed the potential of using a historical theme.
