THE CITY OF LIBERTY LAKE PARKS & ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES MARCH 20TH, 2019 - 4:00 PM CALL TO ORDER: Chair Laina Schutz called the meeting of the Parks and Arts Commission to order at 4:00 PM on March 20th, 2019. ROLL CALL: Commissioner David Himebaugh Commissioner Laina Schutz Commissioner Laura Frank Commissioner Bridgette Harris Commissioner Tom Chamberlain Adjunct Anita Eylar Excused Commissioner Tom Sahlberg Excused Adjunct Bob Schneidmiller Excused Commissioner Tom Stanley Excused Maintenance & Operations Director Jennifer Camp Administrative Assistant Tait Hunter Student Commissioner Caleb Betts Unexcused Student Commissioner Katelyn Hansen Excused Student Commissioner Natalie Alva Unexcused APPROVALS: Chair Laina Schutz moved to approve the minutes from March 6th, 2019. Commissioner Himebaugh seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. STAFF REPORT: Jennifer Camp gave a brief update on Barefoot in the Park. There is a need for bags to hand out to participants at the car show. Commissioner Chamberlain offered to look into a contact regarding obtaining bags. Jennifer also showed the commission the Community Events tab on the City website, including a brief tour of some of the upcoming events and sponsors. NEW & UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The commission discussed potential recreation opportunities to bring to the City. Pickleball and disc golf are among the top requests for adult recreation opportunities. PRESENTATIONS & ACTION ITEMS: Commissioner Frank updated the commission regarding the art selection panel. Council members, local business owners, and citizens are being considered for the panel. The pavilion mural wrap was presented to the Council on March 19th, and was met with approval. Chair Schutz plans to continue conversation with the wrap company regarding the mural project. PRESENTATIONS & ACTION ITEMS CONTINUED: Commissioner Himebaugh will be meeting with Mark Bitz on Monday regarding the story walk project. The report will come before the next meeting. Jennifer Camp and Commissioner Frank gave an update regarding the strategic plan. The goat statues were also discussed, along with the procurement process and a discussion regarding the call to artists for the project. Jennifer Camp proposed a change to the schedule of the student commissioners election, suggesting the term run the length of the school year vs. January 1st to January 1st of the next year. CITIZEN COMMENTS: No citizen comments were made at this meeting. MEETING ADJOURNMENT: The meeting concluded at 4:45 PM
